Total Reset RYTM. Or lunacy awaits

Hi everybody.

The bad mood this RYTM has me in is definitely out of proportion, but maybe someone can help.

I was on the beta overbridge for a while but I just want the thing to work normally on Ableton. I tried a factory reset, still has the beta OS on there. Won’t let me use C6 to go to the public OS (C6 has rarely worked tbh). Overbridge doesn’t work: nothing appears in Ableton’s audio interface section. Me just want drum box work.

Can someone please just tell me how to restore it to “normal” like you buy it in the shops?. I don’t want to use it as an expensive ashtray but I’m quite annoyed at what’s almost 100% likely my fault.

This is the only piece of gear I can’t get working.

Cheers

B

Just realized you already tried the reset.

Regarding your problem with OB got me thinking…I hope Elektron ensures that OB can be completely turned off for those who don’t ever plan to use it. I’ll be pissed if the machine gets more bugs due to an OB update I didn’t want in the first place. Maybe they should release two OS versions for each box- one for OB users, one for RYTM/A4-exclusive users.

Just sayin…

I had some C6 and RYTM woes for a while. I even thought for a bit that I had broken my machine ! I think I actually watched some Dataline youtube video where he shows how to get Overbridge set up - that helped me enormously.

I simply turned off overbridge mode in system settings and made sure I had USB set at my midi input/ouput source. Then when I reloaded C6 made sure I had the RYTM highlighted (in both boxes) under the connected devices. Tick on all those other little boxes too like SPS handshaking or whatever. Oh another thing — make sure you have RYTM set to receive the OS, and make sure C6 you have the firmware .syx highlighted in C6 before you hit SEND.

I have downgraded and upgraded between original non OB OS, beta OB and OB 1.0 (ableton version) with no problems. I had some bugs with a few kits that I thought was caused by Overbridge OS so I downgraded, found out it wasn’t that and then re-upgraded.

The beta versions of OB were a little flakey, so I’d suggest either the non-OB OS or just use latest 1.21C but keep overbridge mode off Really I haven’t found any use for overbridge other than a pretty pictures as I turn knobbies. I suppose the multitrack recording is nice, but at this point in my process I only need the stereo channels that come out of my mixer to be recorded which I do with my sound card. If they were to add librarian for RYTM, however, that would change my mind completely.

hi

thanks. i tried this already but the os version remained the latest beta.

thanks for this. will have a go.

I believe if you want to downgrade the OS, you just need to get hold of the OS version you want and install it. Save your projects and kits before you make any OS changes. And consider they may not work in an earlier OS. I don’t know for sure though.

Indeed, a factory reset will do nothing with the OS.
