Very much a v1 man here - missed my V2 call a couple of times now I think. Whoops!

Question on the T1 I recently purchased and I’m a little confused with the tempo knob? If I hold it down and select a pad say 120 for example the next pad is always slightly lit up but if I turn it down one notch it isn’t illuminated anymore.
The manual makes it seem like when you click a pad the next one should not be illuminated at all? Anyone else experience this?
Yeah the Tempo knob is the one thing that is not great on the Torso (that and transport control). Honestly, I have my DT be the tempo master and reroute things back into it. I’ve even saved certain patterns at a certain BPM only have them always revert back to another BPM (around 160)
sync settings - so, was jamming w/the T1 and then went to sync w/ableton via link so i could record some and i had to slow ableton tempo down to like 78bpm to get to the right tempo. not sure if there’s some double time midi sync somewhere. i checked all settings and my patterns were all kinda default settings for timing and divisions more or less. i know in other sequencers ya have to set up the ppqn correctly or you half/double time… but made no difference here on the T1.
anyone have similar experience or tips for working with DAW clock source over ableton link w/the T1 following it?
That’s a new one. I’ve only linked my T1 to ableton via usb and i’ve never had an issue. Strange.
So one of my New Years resolutions was to focus on my main set up and just get really good at that (DTII, OT, T1, Dreadbox Nix) so I purchased this and oh…my…god. I’ve barely started it and I’ve already learned so much.
Did you know you can mute and chain your cycles? Even have repeats of the cycles?
Also did you know you can reset the start phase of the LFOs that control things like velocity groove and modulation on the steps page?
Well worth the money.
Some future development hint in todays newsletter:
Things have been a bit quiet in the T-1 camp since we launched the S-4. This has been necessary, as we’ve focused our energy on addressing the most pressing priorities. The S-4 remains our top focus for now. That said, T-1 development has not been shelved. Once the S-4 OS 2.0 is complete, we’ll shift our attention back to the T-1. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
As a small teaser, here are two new additions coming in the next T-1 update:
New Voicing Styles: Ramp up/down and climb up/down.
Hold Mode for FX Mode Tracks: Enabling arp-style latching.
Any chance we could get a bank editor for the PC/Mac? It’s a struggle to program notes for some of my drum machines. Having backup files for banks would also ease some stress. It would also be amazing if we could trade banks/instrument defs.
A couple of weeks ago I watched a Youtube video of Livonian Nights where they were using the T1 to control the Yamaha Seqtrak and it struck a chord with me. I did a little digging and almost immediately popped onto eBay and picked one up for £185.
Can confirm, this combo is an absolute belter! You get 7 drum tracks, 3 synth tracks of which one is Yamaha DX7 and one sample track. Each track is addressable by it’s own Midi channel.
The seqtrak itself is almost exactly the same size as the T1 and has a built in battery, speaker and mic. I have played it with the T1 powered by USB battery, Seqtrak on internal battery, playing through it’s own speaker (although headphones is obviously FAR superior) and it takes up barely any room.
On top of that it has bluetooth and can connect to phones, tablets and computers. So I’ve been using an Ipad mini to get more control of the seqtrak at times although it’s fine without.
Just wanted to share the knowledge as the Seqtrak seems to have been quite under the radar after it’s release and I couldn’t be happier with it, especially at that price. It even has the zany visualiser for making videos that respond to your music/midi signals which is fun if not particularly useful!
I didn’t dig too far into the Yamaha Seqtrak when it came out… but that’s a great combo you’re describing. I realize I can look it up, but are the 3 synth tracks mono or poly?
I use the T-1 with the Syntakt, and the 12 channels make it a damn joy. For poly, I use a midi hub to do a distribution trick across 3 of the Syntakt’s tracks. I really love the combo… I would imagine that the Digitone MKII is great with the T1 as well, no midi distribution tricks required.
Yes the synth tracks are poly! I haven’t tested the limit on how many notes of polyphony on each one but I’ve had three note chords going on a few at the same time. Also you can play the drum tracks pitched which isn’t possible via the seqtrak alone.
I’m just thinking on what I can fill the five remaining tracks with. Maybe some syntakt or digitakt tracks would be useful but part of what I love about this setup is how compact and easy it is.
Long awaited news from Torso on Discord:

Hello everyone! We are currently gearing up for a T-1 update. This means that we are going through feedback from multiple sources (Discord, support, internal bug-reports, etc). We have created this channel specifically for T-1 bug reports: 🐞│bug-reports. If you have anything specific you would like to highlight, please let us know in there. The update will be focused around bug fixing. Thank you!
Hello Torso elektron friends. I’m having an issue and I’m wondering if it’s a bug or user error. When I press down on the “channel” encoder nothing happens. This is a recent development (at least I think it is I’m pretty sure it worked used to as designed" When I turn the encoder it works as intended. Anyone else experience this?
When I hold channel encoder down or double click it all track buttons light up, selected midi channels in white, the rest in green. I’m on the most recent beta firmware.
Yeah this is what I want. I don’t know if i’ve updated to the beta. Been waiting for the most recent update for a while. Maybe I’ll just go ahead and update.
The knob may have been pushed down a bit too much making the push-encoder ineffective. Try pulling it up gently until it slides, then check the push-down function again and let us know.
Firmware release is not related to the reported issue which looks like an electro-mechanical malfunction.
Stupid possible solution: I had the push funktion of one of the encoders malfunction. Issue was that the knob (plastic cap) had compressed and hence couldn’t be pushed far enough to trigger. Solution was to put a bit of material (crumbled paper for instance) to make the cap sit higher and hence push deeper. I have since changed caps to dj tech tools and have had zero issues with those.
Hope it helps
Popping back on to let everyone know that there was a little piece of something (possibly from my 6 year old) under the encoder that prevented me from pressing it down fully. Once I removed that it now works as expected. Thanks for all the suggestions!
