Current manual refers to firmware 2.0.1 and doesn’t reflect the functionalities introduced with f/w 2.1.0/2.1.1, Torso told an updated manual is in the working as well as new video tutorials.

Need to buy either a cheapie Ipad 11 with the A16 chip or a Yamaha Seqtrak or an MC 101 for a portable take anywhere system for this year.
I loved using my Oxi with the Seqtrak when I had one but sold both and now with the T1, this would be a great combo…and the MC 101 would work fine BUT I can power the T1 plugged directly into the Ipad which makes that more portable…not sure If the Seqtrak will power the Torso.
I have lots of synths and effects purchased over the years on ipads so that would be good. I like the MC 101 for Roland sounds and would rather have a hardware box than another ipad.
It’s so hard to decide!!! Just want this for playing at work and trips…just not exactly sure which to get.
Welp…I’m back on that 2.0.14. I tried to upgrade as soon as they released the new firmware and things got really buggy in regards to switching patterns. I slave my T1 to either my DT2 or ableton. Every time I hit play on the master device I have to hit play on the T1 as well or my patterns would not change in sequence, they would just change instantly and then be out of seq. Extremely frustrating. But last week things just start to get intolerable. I was playing around with the T1 jamming in ableton and things just started to lock up. I would just change patterns and the thing would just stop. Sometimes it would unfreeze and other times I would have to reboot. I put in a bug report but have not heard back. Anyways I never really used any of the new features anyways. I was only kind of able to use the back up feature. So i’ve downgraded to firmware 2.0.14. If they ever fix these bugs maybe I will upgrade but you would think they would fix these with the firmware in beta as long as it was.
I updated to 2.1 today and lost a couple of patterns…
It’s not a biggie cause most of the patterns in the bank are intact but still a bit weird.
It seems like users a having different problems with the new FW so I really hope that they are fixing the bugs soon.
It would also be nice if they refresh the manual as well and make it easier to understand the new features.
Since updating the FW I haven’t been able to save any patterns that I have made since.
Manually saving isn’t working. I got the auto safe function set to on in the editor but it isn’t working either.
.
As far as i understand, I’m not the only person with this problem.
So be aware of this if you want to update!
Yes, unfortunately, I was shocked to discover yesterday that my T1 Pattern no longer saves. My last session had completely disappeared. The update itself ran without any problems, and the new features worked great. But without saving—I don’t know. I hope Torso is working on it. For a full update and final firmware, these are scary bugs.
Nah Typhon and Matriarch are properly abandoned, T1’s just not top priority for their small team
They reacted quickly to our bug reports and I’m confident they’ll sort things out. An updated manual has also been in the works and should follow soon.
Sometimes when you run a business you reach a point when you just need to hire more people. It is not reasonable for the business to be chronically unable to keep up with their own devices, to the point of adding new serious bugs during the self proclaimed “final update.” This device should be open source if fhe company continues with its staffing issues.
Sorry but two main gripes I have with that are:
1 - no public communication about any strategy, or plan, I know there are the monthly podcasts on YouTube (I was on a couple of those) but there are no concrete info given
2 - You run a business, you charge people a lot of their money for your products, you need to be held to the same standards as other companies. 2.1-beta7 was live for what 2 years? Had a lot of bugs, there was no communication, nor bugfixing. And the communication on discord was also a little tone deaf which made me sell my torso and quit the whole community.
One last thing is I wanted to fix my torso which got damaged by an electricity failure, Torso wanted nearly 250 EUR for replacing the motherboard on my unit, it was back in black friday when they were selling new units for around 450 EUR iirc.
I don’t understand these “hey it’s a small company, chill out bro” suggestions, they are not helpful to the music community, and the T1 feels abandoned, I don’t care about “Typhon and Matriarch”.
I agree, they’re clearly performing poorly compared to the competition, and their projected sense of confidence when announcing the T1 was arriving at its point of completion is ridiculed by these embarassing bugs. Maybe they rushed the release to hold their promise for an update ‘by the end of the year’, but lack of testing backfired.
Not telling anyone to chill out, just stating I haven’t given up hope compared to some other instruments we’ve had long lost promises for. I feel, and share, your frustration. I haven’t sold mine because I find the device useful as is, but I do find Torso very dissapointing as a company positioning itself on top quality products (priced according), and won’t touch the S4 for that reason.
Some small teams manage just dfine (Dirtywave), Torso obviously don’t, but in any case we frustrated users need to keep up the pressure while the embers are still lit and let them know we’re expecting a follow up.
