Yes, thank you SO much!
Can this thing use a single track for notes, cc and/or FX, or am I getting it wrong? From reading the manual I can’t find specifically stated fact , whether it is capable of programming CCs and notes together on one track, or whether a track only handles either cc or note or FX…
Yes, a track has three modes that can be used simultaneously. It’s indeed not so obvious. I remember the day I ‘discovered’ this myself very vividly.
Lots of notes and (I think) 12 cc’s per track. It goes beyond that, because you can feed a track output into another track.
So, program your notes and just CTRL-VBx into CC mode on the same track.
It’s 14 CCs I think per track, and apparently you can use either CC mode or FX mode with the standard sequencer track, as per Torso themselves.
Now we are here talking about track modes:
For what and how do you use Torso’s track FX mode?
And by the way is there a list of available midi effects? Are they applied internally on generated midi data, or only on what gets in from outside midi gear?
Think about it like a wildly configurable arpeggiator. It takes incoming notes, including from other tracks, and adds pulses and pitches. You can also do stuff like adding ghost notes, transposing notes, turning single notes into chords, rerouting notes to different (or even random) midi channels and sounds, so there’s potential for sure.
The one thing that’s a drawback (that I hope they change) is that there isn’t a way to mute the incoming notes and only play the effected ones as far as I can tell.
I think it’s :
You can use cc mode and FX mode plus note mode on one track
User manual :
A track can operate in 3 modes; Default note sequencer mode, CC Mode for controlling MIDI control change output messages and FX Mode to affect incoming MIDI. Modes operate on the track in parallel so, for example notes in the track can still play while operating in CC mode.
I thought this as well, but on the discord I was told by someone from Torso that it doesn’t exactly work fully in parallel. It’s totally possible I’m misremembering so I’ll try and look back and see where I got that idea from.
It’s not “midi fx” the way that say Squarp has midi effects blocks you can add to a track. That’s why it’s really more like a weird arp than anything else. The “effects” include the same things you can do with the standard sequencer; transpose notes, add notes, add pulses and repeats, etc. I don’t really know it as well as some other functions but that’s my understanding.
No problem.
I never try to use the three modes, i was just remenbering that i already have read that in the manual. I checked and tryed to correct your sentence.
But , since you have better and first hand information, you must be right.
I have to try to really know if it works or not. I just never been in the situation of use the three modes. I’m not a master user of Torso1, that’s not my main sequencer
Is there any new news about bug fixes on the Superbooth?
The sampler get a new Beta Version.
I would be very disappointed if there was no progress at all.
Back in January they said this
Thanks, I didn’t have that on my radar.
Yeah think it was an email they sent out. Not heard anything else since but they still seem to promote the device itself heavily
I have not received an e-mail. I just think it’s a shame that it’s at the expense of T1 users. It’s not my fault the Sampler OS went out like that. Until then I had faith in Torso which now has a lingering taste in my mouth.
