One thing I wonder if I should report - and I’m curious if anyone else struggles with this - is I find the modulation is a bit … janky,
I like to mess up drum loops by using the disc device, and modulating the speed, start point and length - usually with random modulators. Sometimes I stumble upon cool unexpected rhythms this way that I want to keep.
But I find that they are often different each time I play them. It’s as though the modulators aren’t properly resetting and starting from their start when I hit play. Perhaps they’re a little too late or early. Sometimes I have to stop, play, stop, play etc a few times to get it to start the way I want it to. And sometimes it’s lost forever.
Try setting Modulation Transport to When Playing, this should give you MODS that start over every time you start playback again
If that doesn’t do it, try turning VARIATION all the way off on your random mods, so you get the same random mod every time instead of one that is constantly evolving
Setting both of these should give you more consistent random modulation
Thanks for the reply! Although yeah this is already the case - I rarely use variation, and modulators are running “when playing”.
You can even see it on the disc waveform display if you’re modulating the start point - when you press play, it doesn’t always start from the same point of the sample.
I made a video to demonstrate! As you can see a couple of times it doesn’t play from the same spot. I’m modulating the speed and the start point with two different random modulators.
Ive had no issue with keeping a random modulation as is. i use random just like you do, to scan through larger samples to get new melodies and rhythms and i have had no issue getting it to play consistently.
I can’t believe it, I’ve seen people complaining about the lack of zoom for years. Torso should read the forums and just write: “You can do it with ctrl+ this knob”.
The modulation resets slightly after you press play, not at the same time. So where it starts from does change depending on where the modulation was when you hit stop.
I did this simple test with a slow square LFO which is modulation the pitch of a sine wave. You can hear how if I press stop when the LFO is at its “high” position; you get a split second of the high modulation before it resets.
I’m going to report this to Torso because it’s obviously not how it’s meant to work.
My mod section wigged out yesterday on mod1. No idea what happened but restarted and all was fine. Also, midi seems to work well with mine. I’ve done both monitor and sampled to tape and so far it’s on point.
Have this deep house draft going through the Jellymix.
Time/Sync - Oxi One Mk1 → Kenton 12
Percs - Alpha Base MK2 connected to intech fader
Pads and lead - 3rd Wave into the S4, scenes on tape mode while playing live on monitor mode (absolute beaut to use with the S4)
Bass - 1 oct sub from the Superlative SB01 → Boss phaser
Doodles from last night with help from some happy trees, only the jellymix (jellymix filters only for performance) and s4, sampled from 3rd wave, also have the ottobix x on the jellymix mains
