Only when you change AS-1 programs with internal sequences. If you sequence it with the SP-16, no midi bug.

I donât think youâd need the manual. Just strip it down and suss it out. Iâd have thought getting hold of a full service manual for such a modern piece of kit wouldnât be easy⌠and thereâs no saying it would have mechanical drawingsâŚwhich is what youâd want.
I have already disassembled my AS-1 and replaced the metal chassis and plastic side panels. Luckily, I found no cracks on the circuit boards. Itâs looking as new again, and all functions are working as intended.

Any recommendations for a midi controller to help with programming this thing?
Donât own a SP-16, sorry.
Whatever controller which deals with NRPN and midi CC will be ok for the AS-1.

I set-up the Keystep37 for that. You can have 4 levels. See the labels to the right of the knobs. But you cant see the values change on the AS~1 unless you are in that screen on the AS~1.
I got over it afterwards when i had to put that AS~1 back into another set-up. At that point I just went back to using the soundtower software when I needed a complete view.
If i was mad keen, id get that 4x4 faderfox midicontroler.
FYI, thatâs a home made effects pedalboard thatâs setup on.

So what is the best option for midi controllers with the As-1? I have just picked one up but the menu driven interface is not great. Sounds awesome though.
For most integrated control I think the AS-1 version of the stereoping controller offers a tight implementation. It comes with an overlay (see pic below) you stick to it for the AS-1, so no need to memorize what knob does what.
But you can program pretty much any MIDI controller for the AS-1, so what is best for you depends on how comfortable you are with setting it up, the form factor (sliders, knobs etc), cost etcetera. For maximum control over parameters and resolution, look for one that supports NRPN.

A nice splurge option would probably be the Electra One or Electra One Mini. I am certainly considering getting one at some point to control (among other things) the AS-1,
The StereoPing does make it so much more immediate to program the AS-1. I also have one for my Nord Drum 2. I had the Electra One for a couple of years, which is a fantastic controller with a great library of user presets or fully customizable, of course.

Can anybody recommend a very simple sequencer to use with the AS-1? I donât need more than 16 steps, nothing like parameter locks or anything like that.
Korg SQ-1 is definitively in the super simple space and very popular. What are your needs?
Also, the AS-1 does have a sequencer built-in, is there a specific reason you donât want to use it?
It loses sync when changing patterns. A bug that was never fixed.
Right. Yeah the SQ-1 only has the one pattern youâre working on right now and besides the knobs doesnât save things like active steps etc I believe 
You might be able to pick up something like the Novation Circuit secondhand and cheap, would be a good match.
Do you have an A4? I gave that a try when Elektron added midi out, and it worked on the AS~1. But it was just a quick episode, because I have always used the SquarpPyramid with the AS~1âs. That is probably way too much for your needs but if you find one cheap itâs worth a shot.
