Well, that sucks.

I’ve always refrained from purchasing there for the totally unscientific reason that their website looked like it was designed in the late 90’s for an office supply store. It just didn’t feel like a site where they actually gave a rat’s ass about music. Maybe they do, but the design sure doesn’t communicate that.

Sorry to hear that they don’t exactly give a rat’s ass about accurate inventory. Here’s hoping karma leads you to an even lower price on the controller you were wanting to buy.

Ha, thanks.
Karma has pointed me toward a Novation XioSynth 25 instead. Thanks Karma.

And yea, ugly site. They do offer some steep discounts from time to time , though. Up to 20% off. I was going to give them another shot this summer for a Pigtronix Infinity Looper ($355 new after their discount/coupons), but I think when the time comes I’ll just buy it used instead.

Xio makes a great controller for your MnM with the joystick mappings :+1:

So they made a mistake. I live in Milwaukee and I go here quite often. I’ve never had a problem there. It’s a small place but they often get the latest stuff before other stores and they’ve always got promos going.

Sounds like they’re executing fairly standard return procedures.

If it’s the standard to wait 2 weeks to refund someone their money over their own mistake, then this industry is going down the toilet.
Mistakes are mistakes. It’s what you do afterward that is true customer service.
ProAudioStar, Sweetwater… they know how to treat their customers in these (rare) instances.

A4 too!
Looking forward to that. Just have to wait a few weeks for my… refund.

It takes a while for the money to be posted to your credit card. Usually they say that to cover the worst case scenario, but it’s usually just a couple days.

:+1:
I see you championing the Xio around here often. Seems a great portable solution with a solid Nova-derived poly VA inside. I used an X-station 25 about 7 years ago and was always pleased with it. Looking forward to the Xio controlling A4 and MM.

Do you know if it will work with a kenton usb midi host, as a means to receive midi input? I’d love to sequence that thing with my MonoMachine.

Also, I see it listed in some sites as an 8 voice poly, but others say 10 voice poly. Which is it? Perhaps an OS update unlocked some more DSP capabilities and bumped the voice count?
I doubt I would ever need 9 or 10 voices, but my plan is to use it for very complex pads and atmospheres (thanks to MM’s LFOs), so who knows. It should really fill the VA gap in my setup.

Not sure about the voice count.

Xio supports midi in over USB - designed for computer control of course but don’t see why it won’t work with a converter. Takes a little setup - Hybrid Mode with “Synth by Midi” ON.

I hope so. This French page is the only thing I could find confirming it. liste d'appareils compatibles? - forum Kenton MIDI USB Host - Audiofanzine
Even with the cost of the Kenton, it’s a great deal. I’ve been using V-Station in my DAW to reacquaint myself with the sound and it can get pretty out there.

Kentons site says the USB device must be class conpliant…

I’d email or call Kenton - I’ve used them many times for retrofits etc and they are very responsive - may be they can tell you something outside the official spec.

"Check for firmware updates. Some Novation controllers/keyboards can have their firmware (software) updated and will work with the new version. "

Looks like should be good - from Sweetwater spec:

Highly Portable and USB Class-compliant
Simply connecting the keyboard over USB is all that’s required to start recording, synthesizing and MIDI controlling. As the device is class compliant, no drivers are required for Windows XP or Mac OSX (although some are provided to improve latency and stability in some apps). Furthermore, if wanting to escape the confines of the studio for a while, the USB cable can be unplugged and the Xio can be powered by batteries, functioning as a standalone synth completely separately from the computer.”

One more thing - don’t pay a lot for the xio - mine was 90 UK pounds boxed, manuals, original cables, etc. on eBay.

No worries. Found one for $100 US.
Thanks again for all the info.
