Since Tonverk have Wavefinder, polyphonic, 8 tracks with arp etc… Does A4 still have something to bring ?
a4 is a complete different machine - it is 4 voice analog synth digitally controlled -
you are comparing apple with orange
Both fruits, I know it’s not the same thing but both do synthesis. What I’m asking myself is if the A4 have some creative synthesizis things the TV don’t.
The TV can do virtual analog with basic waveform, I know VA is not analog but the sonic result is close or the A4 blow away the TV in synthesis ?
I wish Tonverk had A4’s performance macros, control all and euclidian sequencer. Maybe one day…
in terms of pure synthesis capabilities , A4 have ring mod and sync between oscillators Tonverk does not benefit. And as mentionned lacks macro and Control all and euclidean. But comparing an analog synth and a sampler ( which tonverk is in the prime sense ) is not very significant. Tonverk will always be more versatile vs A4 is very specific.
they pair very well for sure :
It looks like you need to persuade yourself Tonverk is better.
A4 has fewer bugs.
I prefer oranges
I suggest you bananas.
Or cherries.
Or pineapples.
Or grapes.
Wait, what do you think about a fruit salad ?
Back to the topic, I don’t want to convince me one is better than another. I own mainly samplers from elektron. I have Tonverk and recently I feel tired about samples scrolling. I enjoyed using Wavefinder more than expected. So I think about it and I’m curious if A4 is not become obsolete by TV synthesis.
Will I buy an A4 to check it ? maybe.
You will buy an A4 to see if the TV you enjoy makes it obsolete? Why on earth won’t you just use wavefinder and stop wasting time on thinking about A4?
You know why. I’m just playing. Nothing serious. I do not need to produce anything. I love discovery new things.
A4 has neighbor and feedback as oscillators which make s you able to. Reste a feedback network which can produce really cool and unexpected results…
to truly appreciate A4 one does not buy it and try it for a week, because to most the initial sounds is quiet underwhelming in comparison to a Moog or Sequential. It is once you’ve dived deep enough that realize what a unique synth it actually is.
And kits! Never forget kits!
Just get both. You know you want to. “Obsolete” is a fucking stupid adjective to throw around. People still play Moogs, pianos, violins, theramins, mouth harps, woodblocks, log drums. Hell, they even sing, and that’s 100,000s years old.
Huh? The topic is literally “Tonverk better than Analog Four?” ![]()
Sorry my english is very basic. I just wanted your reviews on the synthesis part of the Tonverk compared to the synthesis part of the A4 and know if the A4 have more deep or if the Tonverk can do everything the A4 does with wavefinder.
Some of you answer and thanks to them ![]()
I think you almost answered yourself, if you are tired about samples scrolling and like discover new things I think the A4 is a very good choice.
It’s 2026. Are we trying to justify “buying” or “owning” something? Come on!
You said it… they’re different machines.
I’ve a feeling the internet is gonna “misplace” facts and knowledge. As people will continue to ask stupid questions!!!
I don’t care what year it is… or who’s using it. If I want something… I’m getting it! And it’s up to me to use it and create.
