Exactly
Speaking of file management, any idea why it takes SO LONG for the SD card to be fully ready when the TV is turned on?
I have the same size SC card (64G) in my M8, with essentially the same samples and number of files on each. (Approx 5G). The M8 boots up immediately and is ready to play right away. The TV takes quite a few minutes. I’d love to load a lot more samples onto the TV’s card, but with how long it currently takes to load, I wonder if it’s even worthwhile.
As an alternative solution - what if I just left the TV on all the time?
There’s a thread semi-investigating this:
… but know the reader for the Tonverk is UHS-I, which may be slower than the M8, uncertain.
the thing that matters is not the amount of samples on the card but the amount of samples to load in the ram ( i think but the tonverks may do a checklist of file available on the sd card also ).
i won’t let the device powered up all the time, you will have Leds failure too quickly.
ther’s a thread about several SD card that perfom better than the stock one, i did buy one of hte card listed ( it was a M8 list ) and did have no luck but from the video on the thread op you could speed up to 50%. i should have bought the verbatim one showed in the video. i think Elektron is going to speed up and optimizing the device in the long run also. ( i hope so ) . 1 minute boot time is not the end of the world also. i care much about the save project time which is the same !
Just use a new project, the factory demo one is proper bloated
Thanks! Yeah, I learned that pretty early on, and have been in a new project for a while now.
And thanks to @Anarchosyn and @Holografik, too. I’ll check out the other thread…sorry I missed that!

this still cracks me up
“I’ve been to the continent, and the continental breakfast at this facility was an absolute embarrassment.”
i use my own project, never use the demo ones. i filled bank a & bank b & currently filling banks C, i don’t use multisaples a lot and my ram usage is around 500mb , still saving the project takes 1 minute
Summoning me up is not going to improve the quality of discourse on this thread.
I’m like the genie in the lamp, but I come on to your mother-in-law and piss in your flowerpots before you get your wishes, which will all be from Temu.
Interesting, looks like saving lots of patterns takes time - I’m at 604mb and it takes about 5s to save my tiny two pattern project
I tend to use the term “indexing” for what the Tonverk does at boot. It’s reading the names of all the files on the card so that it can show them in the lists of presets, samples, etc. Performance is dependent on the numbers of files, not how big they are. That goes on in the background.
In addition to that, it has to load the full samples in the active Project in to RAM, which is when you get the “spinny thing”. So you have both those things going on.
yes loading time is not that bad because i only load once or twice per session, but project same i’m doibg this a lot in a session
I think their claims say more about them than any reality they’re any more bug free than others. I mean, how could they be?
It’s the attitude to them. I’ve reported probably a dozen TV bugs to Elektron, and will be sending another tonight.
It’s also been my favourite device since it arrived two days after launch.
I’m only now trying to sort out usb audio into tonverk. trying from a couple of different machines (torso s4, A4) can’t seem to get any sound.
is it possible or… am I making a grave mistake?
Do those other machines have USB Audio Host capability? There needs to be a Host machine, and the Tonverk isn’t it. (I hope Elektron adds that option sometime in the future.)
the S4 might be. think I read it in thy manual. only got the S4 yesterday so learning the ropes here.
nearly sure the A4 isn’t.
Thanks for the reply Sashi, I’ll check out the host capabilities on the torso
