Possible scenarios assuming digitakt is discontinued:

  1. Toneverk is the new flagship model. A digitakt mk2 is released shortly to fulfill market needs for mid range sampler.

  2. Toneverk is the new flagship model. Digitakt is discontinued and functionality replicated by adding sampling machines to syntakt in an update.

  3. No digitakt mk2 or syntakt sampling. Toneverk fulfills digitakt place as midrange priced sampler.

  4. Toneverk is new flagship model. No more mid range sampler.

I’m hard pressed to believe they’ll say “the mid tier model is a current best seller so let’s alienate everyone with under $1700 in their pocket and send them over to akai”.

So to me, that says either DT mkII IS tonverk, or is coming shortly. Despite my prior arguments that there would be no DT mkII at this time. This is me conceding my pride.

and this is ONLY if DT is actually EOL.

digitakt will transcend to the digodakt, and then cast judgement on all other beatmachines

sounds like a dinosaur.

DomeTwerk

But it is, I thought it was confirmed. A French retailer also confirmed it when I asked two weeks ago.

Pretty much. Wasn’t one of the anagrams for the Elektron ransom note teaser thing “2 new synths” or something? Similar to you I’m thinking

  1. tonverk does DT and more (possible)
  2. there’s a Tonverk and a Takverk both coming (seems likely based on past naming conventions)
  3. Tonverk and also simply a DT mk2 (or just white screen DT1) coming (seems unlikely as they’re apparently starting a new line/platform, but it also seems crazy to not have a sampler in this range.)
  4. Or Syntakt gets DT sampling (unlikely but physically they’re so similar and it seems possible)

this is a totally imaginable conspiracy theory.

I would bet on this.

Perhaps TonVerk is a device to integrate the/with other instruments, in the sampler-mixer-soundprocessor idea behind the Octatrack, but built on top of Overbridge technology and not just analog audio inputs.

That would be aligned with the “alleged” Cuckoo-gate of dropping DT and OT material making since something that will supersede those two machines was coming.

Save this post.

Digodakt, son of Godfrey, arch enemy of Malenia, a fallen demigod…

I’m thinking that Elektron strategy now resembles Korg, small incremental improvements, so not expecting something radical (but Korg sometimes makes a huge leaps)
