I have an irrational disliking to the Tonverk USB plug - specifically that screw that fixes it to the unit.
Can I get one without the fixing screw? Or could I just cut it off?

You can probably just pull it out with a vice grip. I would expect it to be more susceptible to damage by being accidentally yanked up or down though. I keep mine screwed in to minimize wear and tear.
Why can’t you just use any old compatible USB C cable?
I don’t own it yet, not sure how it is, but looks like the mains power supply has a screw moulded into it. Reminds me of VGA monitor.
I wouldn’t want to keep screwing/unscrewing that thing as I will be moving it regularly, so leaving it unscrewed seems to irk me. I’d rather the fastening screw was just gone completely.
Don’t worry, it will be addressed in a new update coming one of these days soon!

… otherwise we’re screwed

I actually almost never used the screw so far. You don’t have to.
Keep the silly Elektron cable and use a normal USB-C cable.
I’m powering my TV with the same fancy high power Baseus cable I use to quick charge my phone, camera, and iPad. Zero problems.
(edit: it’s not that silly if you are gigging, and it gives me anti-nostalgia for the '80s and '90s when every plug had not one but two screws. USB-C is tiny and convenient despite the sometimes bewildering complexity under the hood)
If it’s irrational, then you don’t need to do anything except to get over it.
Or just use a normal usb cable. Putting it up is some true nonsense.
How can I use a normal USB cable if it is hardwired to the power brick?
You can use other power supplies, and indeed power banks if they support USB PD.
Anyone got a pic of this threaded usb plug? I’m intrigued
Use a USB-C extension cable.
I think it’s a great solution and I‘m happy to use it! I‘ve been vocal about them please not using USB-C on future products because it could easily trip, and this solves that elegantly. If you don’t like it, just use another cable. I really don’t see a point in criticizing the plug screw.
it’s literally the best invention ever. How easy can the power cable get unplugged with those 9V barrels… with USB as well - but now it’s a problem that is fixed. Maybe a battery would be a fix just as good. Even better maybe. There is space inside – somebody should start the mod.
And when you don’t like it: Cable fits without the screw just fine. Just ignore it and move on.
That plug keeps all of the Tonverk juices from leaking out. You don’t want to lose all that flavor.
