Tonverk OS Upgrades & Updates

I reported it and sent Elektron a diagnostics file, so they’re certainly aware of it. In the response they said they’d already had two similar reports.

Yup, not installing this one …

I’m troubleshooting it and so far found that formatting the card and adding factory content eliminates the bug. When I add all my stuff, the bug is back. So now I’m adding folder by folder and checking if the error is back. I have a hunch this is connected to sample indexing on the SD card. I have a ton of samples on a 256GB card and maybe the script stalls listing the Projects folder because of the sheer number of items on the card.

id guess it might fall over with one of those computery type numbers
eg
128 folders or 256 folders or 512 folders … etc,
or the sd card ends up with over 1024 files , 4096, 8192, 16384 files in a folder… or whatever…
a total guess.
i think windows used to fall over if a file name was too long…
dos used to display files weirdly when they were too long… it was annoying… 30 yrs ago.

One octave keyboard fold mode
Just a one octave fold mode would also be useful, with only the 8 bottom row keys of the keyboard. This doesn’t require the use of other keys like trig / track keys.

Edit : Probably better placed in the Feature Requests.

Same problem here; I go back to the previous OS 1.3.1.

This is likely due to the number of folders on the SD card.

I initially formatted my SD card thinking it was corrupted, but the problem reappeared after adding a certain number of files and folders.

Thanks. Please report that.

Already had. Sent the diagnostics file in as well.

In the end, I wasn’t able to fix it. The bug always reappears when I copy one of the “heavy” folders back onto the card. One additional thing I noticed is that once that happens, the presets list becomes empty and if I try to do anything on that screen there’s a message saying “failed to load preset”.

For now I’m just saving a new version of my current project very frequently.

Everything you’re describing happened my end. Also, before I switched back to 1.3.1 - I noticed that on start up the volume was set to 0. I’d never come across that before so thought there was an issue with sound but nope. Just turned volume completely off on start up. Did you experience this too?

has anyone had no issues with the latest update?

I usually update without a 2nd thought, but i fink I’m gonna skip this one

I just noticed one “files missing” pop up on an okder project. But it was working flawlessly. On newer projects I didn’t notice bigger bugs

Yes, I had! Forgot to mention this. Thought something’s wrong with my mixer.

1.32 issues I’ve had:

  1. The no projects found thing - hit NO and pick a project, all good.
  2. The zero volume thing - scary the first time
  3. Had a message saying my SD card was corrupt after coming out of USB disk mode. Card not corrupted.

I’m saving and backing up a lot.

No issues here. No crashes or lockups ever. I have very few projects and samples on my card. I’m using a Kingston canvas select plus 128GB card that I replaced the original one with on day one of getting the Tonverk.

who came up with that process for pc/mac that auto syncs projects & samples every time you connect TV to computer?

I wanna set that up but don’t know where to find it on the forum.

I’ve backed up my stuff a fair few times manually, but it would be really nice to have the peace of mind knowing it’s constantly updated.

edit - found it. for anyone else who was looking for it.

Same issues here + all the stock and selfmade subtrack presets are gone. (at least the ones when you press the ‘file’ symbol)

LOL. I picked up a Tonverk in a trade 3-4 months ago and I keep telling myself, “I’ll start to learn it once they put out a stable OS version”. I keep thinking to myself “I bet now’s the time!” but every time I check this thread I see things aren’t quite ready for primetime! I’ll check back in in 3-4 weeks…

i had a long session with it a few days ago and it didnt fall over or cause any issues.
i avoid perform mode, undo/redo, … mostly basic sequencing and figuring out each fx and machine.
nothing too taxing .
