Tonverk OS Upgrades & Updates

Bug fixes

The Wavefinder SRC machine’s parameters did not have any MIDI CC mappings.

It was not possible to access full parameter ranges using NRPN-based MIDI messages.

The VU meters on the Recorder page were not rendering consistently.

Certain Bus/Send/Main FX parameter locks were not working as intended.

Exiting PERFORM mode could unexpectedly unload samples of an instrument previously loaded to the pattern.

Loading a project could unexpectedly change sample assignments of loaded instruments.

Choke group assignments for Subtracks SRC machine subtracks were not being saved with the preset.

Samples and wavetables located in the root of the SD card that were loaded to the project were not displaying a slot ID in the Sample Browser.

In some circumstances, loading certain presets could cause the device to become unresponsive.

The Song row’s LENGTH parameter did not override the reset length.

MIDI NRPNs were unable to reach the full range of certain parameters.

The HP.MON parameter was being reset to its default value instead of keeping its previous value after a Pattern Recall/Paste.

AIF sample files did not show up in the Sample Browser.

Subtracks could appear as muted in songs in projects created before version 1.3.0, even when no song row mutes had been applied.

Thanx for these fixes!

Nice one

Wow !

Yesssss finally I can use my shiny new box as it not throwibg away loaded presets after reload xD thx Elektron! So I guess I will keep my TV

Didn’t see this in the list but did they fix the “current page” light blinking on “and” instead of on the beat?

Can it page loop like ARMK2 and DT2? If so, I’m getting one.

Added in 1.3.0.

Are you sure this is an issue, a behaviour change ?

1.3.1 Tonverk behaviour seems normal compared to other Elektrons : blinking ON on the beat.

What is missing is highlight for currently played page : you cannot differentiate its first beat (on other Elektrons, currently played page become brighter / have different color led indication). Elektron talked about improvements planned for pages display…

That was a great musical moment.
Best beats ever made…

On Tonverk the boxes are displayed by default. When they blink the state change is on the AND.

On other Elektron devices, the lights are off by default. The state change is on the beat.

This means that when a pattern restarts on the Tonverk, the first box does nothing. This is the opposite of every other Elektron box, where the state change would occur on the 1, and the light would turn on.

I’m not going to downgrade my device to check, but I’m pretty sure it worked the opposite way prior to 1.30, because I instantly noticed this while live recording after the update, and it’s very annoying.

The Tap Tempo blinks ON on the 1 though. :upside_down_face:

Yes. I agree that is a problem.
Did you read me ?

Yes. On the page display first beat actually blink on, but you can’t differentiate it from its state when it isn’t the currently played page.
That is problematic.

No problem with 1 page.

No. There are dimmed. They are off depending on the number of pages (like on Tonverk).

No. Same behavior with 1 page.
Highlight or color change on the beat, which is equal to blink on.

So I think what shout be improved is the differentiation between currently played page and other pages. Bigger Square for currently played page ?
Bigger pages display option ?

I don’t know if behavior changed.
Blink off on beat seems weird to me. It would be opposite of tempo blink…

I think the pixels need a ‘page used but not fully shown’ state, to match the old physical LEDs.
Just mocked this up, where the ‘page used’ is a cross rather than a full square, which allows for a similar feedback as the old LEDs. The currently selected page in this example is page 4/4. Could work a bit better than the current version…?

Sure ! Could you try inverting square and the + for the page used ? (eventually blink off totally)

This is instantly obvious as soon as you see it. No explanation needed. Very nice. :+1:

TBH getting rid of the LEDs was a mistake and making me stare at 16 microscopic boxes sucks. I hope they can come up with some other solution entirely. I would prefer if it just said showed me the numbers, e.g., 3/8 or whatever. And maybe they can use just one slightly bigger blinking square to represent the beat.

That’s what I suggested above.
A bigger square would be 1 pixel min/max anyway. Unless pages are displayed differently, on the same line…with a special mode ?
