Tonverk OS Upgrades & Updates

A single note. In step edit, the encoder shifts all notes. Nightmarish to set.

Not my problem !
I want to sequence drum kits, Digitone 2 tracks, Tempera emitter notes…
All these use lower notes, and are definitely audible.

So, new update coming this week? I guess if there will ever be a way to edit multisamples (not just the name)

Yes! That should be “What’s next for Elektron”.

Anyone else chasing back every hour? :joy:

I just joined the Tonverk club. It definitely feels like a different species of Elektron machine, even having spent years with the Dark Trinity. The FX buses especially feel like a game changer in the Elektron ecosystem

I can see the potential in the machine, but it’s a bit rough around the edges. Like half the factory patches refuse to load. Poking around in there Factory Samples directory, there’s some good stuff that I’d like to try out. Does anyone know if the bug patch updates fixed the factory content? I didn’t see anything in the release notes, so I thought I’d ask.

Not in my experience. I still notice sometimes when cycling through that the sound doesn’t change when a new preset is loaded.

I know that at least one of the presets has a granular effect that doesn’t exist in the effects section yet. I wonder if the ones that don’t load have parameters that haven’t been released yet?

Welcome!
Update your device to the latest firmware and have fun with the possibilities—there are still some major bugs, but there are also some major updates coming, probably this week or soon.
If you scroll up, you can read about all the bugs and good things in various formulations. The bug thread in particular contains a lot (a lot!) of information.

Finally hooked my Tonverk up to the OP-XY via USB and it’s a dream pairing except the midi clock is wild, can vary by up to 40BPM on a 100BPM sync lol. Hopefully the next update addresses this as Elektron has always been one of the more reliable brands for midi stuff via 5 pin and USB. No midi keyboard via USB is a weird omission too.

Wait, I can’t use XY or keystep to play keys with USB? Only uses them with DIN so far but was planning to move to USB potentially.

On another note: played a bit more with Saturator Delay and Chrono Pitch on Take 5 tonight and I’m so impressed by the FX. They sound like a high end pedal and blow the classic Elektron FX out of the water.

Not currently, no

You can use the XY as keyboard for TV via USB because the XY is a USB host, but the Keystep is no host so you need a MIDI cable.

Thanks for explaining. I‘d mainly use XY this way so it’s okay. Was hoping to use USB to power my Keystep and send MIDI.

Yeah, combining multiple Chrono Pitch and delay engines across the buses is ridiculously powerful, especially when you think about it with sequencing and p-locks. Add that with the Degrader (Freeze/Drop), and you have a very capable granular FX workstation.

I need to be spend more time exploring my TV (only has it for two days!), but once I do, I’ll probably make a sequel to my Octatrack/Microcosm mashup thread for the Tonverk (assuming no one else beats me to it)

I’ve already created two sound packs for the Tonverk, but I have nothing to do with the stock presets. I have a suspicion about why things behave the way they do:

I don’t know how Elektron approached the preset creators — whether each person created the presets + Multisample/Subtrack themselves (especially the .elmulti and .eldrum files), or whether the creators sent the samples to Elektron first and then received them back as finished multisamples/subtrack ( inclusive elmulti or eldrum) to create the final presets.
Either way, the .elmulti and .eldrum files that come with the multisample/subtrack kits are extremely picky. If there’s even one blank line missing, or an extra line somewhere, the whole thing stops working.

I use midi keyboards with mine through a usb midi host box and it works fine, though the usb midi clock is a mess so I’m leaving TV on DIN for awhile until after the update and I hear it actually works from others.

Haha! Ok that’ll do

I hope this one sorts my slow saving times after using a MIDI controller. Also buzzing for the new machine
