Tonverk Feature Requests

I think the lesson about samplers without a slice function would be fresh in the minds of the devs and hopefully this is something which can be reconciled, as this device is clearly a sampler in it’s primary compositional form and function.

:crossed_fingers:

If it gets a Slice machine, Granular machine and time stretching (which all seam very feasible) then I think it would be hard not to love.

The cynic in me thinks they’ve held these back intentionally for post-launch excitement generation.

Yeah I wrongly assumed that these two USB-C was for streaming tracks from the second gen digis

But then would people buy the DT any longer?

I’m trying not to think in terms of spare the rod, spoil the child. Trying to think of a company that appreciates it’s customers and wants to keep their business.

From what I can tell, DT is an entirely different thought process and has a rather different linear path for the way the user will compose with it. Rather than “big DT” this is a totally different device so in that regard, I don’t feel like comb filter as a shared feature should be any more of a stretch than slicing is for a sampler.

We’re talking about the way in which a device is used and is meant to be used. Without slicing a sampler relies on a lot of assembly of one shots with a lot of finicky sample length adjustments, or a ton of off-box work setting things up.

To me, that kills the vibe of a device designed to compose music, and if the vibe is not happening I’m unlikely to use the device in a fluid manner.

Everything that takes me off the device takes me one step closer to distraction and I think that as a company of more than 25 years being “the music makers” that Elektron would and will understand that to be true.

It’s kind of remarkable how many things my SP404 can do that this can’t :smiling_face_with_tear:

I don’t like to compare gear with different philosophies but even so…

That said I have started gassing for another Octatrack, so Elektron has me by the short and curlies however you slice it.

I think sequencing fx parameters to mangle audio will get a lot of weird fx / glitching … I got some nice results on Monomachine using it as fx box
But as you say , different design approaches … and price points

Tonverk would be dope with a looper, or some type of real-time record trig thingy majig

i wonder if there is a really apparent way to show on screen you are in perform mode?
maybe it changes inverse colors?

TRK is lit up green when Perform is active

oh good to know, i missed that part

If you must eliminate bright red LEDs that flash to indicate your position at a glance, it would be nice to replace them with something more noticeable than tiny pixels in the corner of the screen. At least the size of any of the many Squares of Hope found on the Syntakt would be nice.

Thank you.

I think Overbridge drives an enormous number of hardware sales, especially since those who like having something like overbridge are more likely to own 2-5 elektron devices instead of just one. I don’t even use it really but love that if I ever do want to have finer control over a mix in a DAW or automate something that I can’t on the hardware itself I could do so in overbridge and that sort of tight integration to DAW environments is a huge market.

Think about it like this: they wouldn’t be spending on software engineering if they didn’t think it would increase revenue, overbridge isn’t just some present to their fans from the kindness of their hearts. People who like the idea of overbridge have to buy a synth from elektron to access it and it probably wins them a bunch of sales away from other grooveboxes and synths that don’t have such a software package. It’s the same reason Nvidia has stayed winning the GPU game, they make it desirable to use their hardware by providing software that makes it a great experience.

Do you have one in hand already?

I’m trying to find out if you can drone multisamples or not (loop the sample for as long as the trigger lasts, preferably with a way to avoid the decay phase). That is my annoyance with the multisample instruments on bento at present.

@Ulysses ‘squares of hope’ had me LOLing as a Syntakt enjoyer who is still holding on to the idea that they might drop a FW update sometime soon to fill out those OS placeholders.

Overbridge exists so they can put out 16 track machines with a single stereo output and point at the bad software when someone complains.

say what you will, I’d much rather take the multitrack audio as USB data directly from the digital compressor output than put it through 16 separate DACs then have to put that back through 16 ADCs on a 16+ track desk just to get the tracks on my computer.

However, I’d even more rather be able to export the full mix or individual tracks as audio stems to wav directly on device like I can with my sonicware 12XT.

Edit: it does have direct jump! I

  • Direct Jump Sequencing
  • Performance macros! It’s what made the Analog series playable live!
