Tonverk: bug reports

Did anybody test the song mode at all at Elektron? This thing is broken

  1. Other Elektron devices display the song popup as soon as you start pressing the song button. Currently it’s displayed after releasing the button, which is probably a bug, but nothing completely critical
  2. Row repeat is not verking. It just plays on.

Got my first real bug yesterday, I’m so proud!

Started a new project. Was on track 3 but when I pressed record and added trig 1 it created an extra louder trig for the kick on track 1 and now track 3 is stuck in that state.

And plocking the rtim value is very very hard

Anyone else find that the MULTIPLAYER preview cuts of the start of each note/sample? Sounds fine after loading but I’m missing the transients when previewing things like plucky basses. They were multisamples on the Tonverk

I have a subtrack where a plocked retrig on subtrack 3 is retriggering the same step on subtrack 2 even though that trig is not plocked. It wasn’t doing it, then started doing it.

If elektron is reading this thread: it would be pretty helpful to have a platform, where everybody could see the already reported bugs and feature requests (and vote/discuss on them). something like the issues section in a github repository, but without actually open sourcing the code

Is it being affected by the track settings you are auditioning it through?

Had a feeling mine was doing that t’other day

from other elektron devices i know that spamming the stop button kills all the sounds (like reverb tails). i didn’t find a possibility to kill the preview in the sample browser (especially for long “samples”)

This!! An actual issue tracker would help cut down the noise in the forum a ton. Even if it wasn’t used internally by Elektron, it would be a vast improvement over multiple duplicated posts asking for the same feature, or asking if an issue had been fixed.

it is not possible to name CC parameters on MIDI machines as described in the manual:

“Press and hold [FUNC] and then press and hold any DATA ENTRY knob to access the NAMING screen.”

All that does is enable/disable the parameter (which is the exact same button combo and seems to have precedence). It’s not possible to reach the naming screen unless i’m missing something.

In 1.1.0, when perform mode is enabled in one pattern and switch to next pattern, the perform mode will then be turned off. But turning it on in this new pattern will cut all the audio off.

I understand there may be a MIDI modulation matrix in the future: this might be related to that functionality. At the moment, pitch bend, mod wheel CCs are not being passed through either. This is what I tried today:

  • Korg opsix, local ctrl. off, Ch. 12 send & recv, both MIDI cables connected to Tonverk (In ↔ Out)
  • Tonverk Settings / MIDI Config, Recv Notes and Recv CC/NRPN are both on.
  • Using Tonverk Track 12 with MIDI SRC machine;
  • Enabled on SRC page: Ch. 12, SBank, Prog, PB, MW). Those all work correctly to control the opsix from the Tonverk e.g. I can send Bank & Program changes and turning PB / MW sends pitch bend / mod wheel respectively;
  • When playing live on the opsix, I get notes with velocity back at the opsix, but played pitch bend and mod wheel are not recorded by the Tonverk nor sent back out to the opsix.

I would call this a “soft thru” situation, which is a great idea: the Tonverk can already take a single master keyboard MIDI in and control the destination MIDI channel, patch etc. per pattern.
But the Tonverk is not sending all the data it receives back out - it’s ignoring incoming CCs. I don’t see any more relevant settings for that, since Recv CC/NRPN is already on in the main settings as above.

Thank you for the great update!!!

That said, it seems that while the mod wheel is received via MIDI In, pitch bend is being ignored. I have Recv CC enabled.

Is this a bug?

I definitely wasn’t getting any mod wheel either. Whether it’s a bug or not depends on whether it’s expected behavior, and I don’t know that.

I just found something weird: on my Tonverk there are a whole bunch of presets that have the incorrect contents. They all contain what appears to be a multisample preset called Fyrkant:

  • 047 80S NOW KIT
  • 048 ACCOUSTIC EDIT KIT
  • 049 FUØ KIT
  • 056 TIGHT KIT
  • 057 B4U KIT
  • 077 BIRD CAGE
  • 079 BRIGHT ARP
  • 084 DARK GLASS
  • 133 SHORT SYNTH

Some have category = ‘KEYS’, some have ‘DRUMS’, but the contents are identical after the categories and tags.

PS I’m downloading the Factory Content from Elektron now, will see if the problem is there too.

PPS latest Factory Content download appears to be the same.

Yeah I think they know but I don’t know if they can change it now with an update as it would mess up anyone who’s used them already. It’s a bit of a bummer but maybe just delete the messed up ones. I made a video on all the kits showing these off with the mistakes labeled back in Sept:

just updated to 1.2.0 i don’t know what is happening but some samples don’t want to play , playhead won’t start, even on the factory project.on single player also also subtracks it seems.

redownloaded the os and redone update seems to correct the problem

nope after testing this is random , sometimes it’s multi instruments, sometimes samples from the samplepool and sometime subtracks. this is a project strated on 1.1.0
some samples don’t play, in single instruments you see the waveform but the playhead don’t start.
i’m going to start a fresh project to see if i have the same problems.

Pattern sync still doesn’t work with Tonverk with program change; it still sends one pattern late so still only single patterns possible with multiple elektron machines unless manually changing on all boxes at once. This one missed the last couple updates because they can’t figure it out, really hope it makes the next one!
