Found this out by mistake, can’t find it in the manual.
When you are loading samples you can control in what order the samples are loaded into the sample pool.

Press [SETTINGS], and then open the SAMPLES menu.

Navigate to the samples you want to load.

Highlight the samples, and then press [YES] to tick them. The order you tick the samples is the order they will get loaded into the sample pool.

Select LOAD TO PROJECT and press [YES]. The samples you selected (ticked) will now appear in the first available empty slot in the order you selected them.
However, you can’t navigate between multiple folders and “tick” samples here and there and then do a “load to project” and expect all to be loaded into the sample pool in one go. This is because when navigating between folders you loose your sample file selections (ticks get un-ticked.)
