Time to treat myself?

I have been working so many extra hours at work and I have saved a good amount to add to my music setup. I don’t particularly need anything but I love to write with the Elektron boxes
I use each box stand alone nowadays and enjoy writing an album with each groove box separately. I have the Digitakt 2 and Digitone 2.
I’m close to pulling the trigger on a used A4 MK2.
I’m sure you could make the argument that I don’t need it because the DN2 is so good (I think so anyway) but I have to spend some money on myself at some point and I’m usually very frugal.

The used A4 prices seem good to me since the Tonverk came out and the TV doesn’t interest me luckily for my wallet.

Does anyone own the A4 and DN2 and use them separately or find them to be inspiring in different ways.

I absolutely create different music with the DT and DN and I’m hoping that the 4 voice limitation would force me to write differently again.

Can’t directly answer your question but I find that I use the AK and Syntakt in very different ways. The A4 / AK is very well suited to a lot of sounds that might take more time to dial in with DN2. But only you know your finances and I’ll leave the DN2 comparisons with others. I haven’t regretted purchasing the AK at all, it may be my favorite Elektron.

I have both, and they’re the only two Elektron machines I have now. I find them very different and the music I make on each ends up pretty different.
The a4 I think definitely has more of a sound aesthetic than the digitone 2, but you can lean into that.

Here’s a jam I did with voice stealing stuff on the a4, it’s so good and means you never really overcook your groove, which is what I always do on the dn2.

You can mess with unison and voice limiting on the dn, but it’s not the same.
