THX Deep Note on Syntakt

A little challenge for fellow Elektronauts in between science labs…

The subject of the THX Deep Note came up in a Digitone board and I though it might be fun to try and remake it on Syntakt.

For reference, here’s the original Deep Note:

Wikipedia page:

I had a play around last night using SY_CHORD and came up with this as a first attempt:

(works best with headphones, sounds terrible on laptop speakers)

Here’s the project file. Load it up, select “SYN”, press play, then hold down “TRK” and turn knob ‘F’ right then left for the detune… :cheeky:
THX.stprj (4.0 KB)

I’ll have another go when I get some time. I need to figure out how to do all the pitch slides properly (see diagram on Wikipedia page).

In the meantime, have at it!

(no sampling the original, obviously, but TWINSHOT could be used for the waveform… )

Awesome challenge! May the fifth be with you(?)!

Why ‘in between science labs’?

Sure, it’s up to @Nils , who has maintained this great initiative for almost a year. But maybe it’s worth adding this to the SSLS?

I think the concept of the SSLs is to use a particular machine but with this you can use any machine you want.

In fact: The original sound has 11 notes so you’d have to use at least two different machines to do that

SSLS it is not SSL :slightly_smiling_face:

Cool challenge @Flekk  I think I need to listen to it a few times to get an idea of how to approach it. Did you use 11 tracks?

Science lab: Fits nicely into the Specials lab. Let me know if you want me to add a link in the SSLS list

woah i’ve never heard the deep note in a minor key that’s incredible! loved trying to recreate the deep note on my model cycles too

The one I posted was 8 x SY_CHORD, I skipped three notes in the middle.
