Hi, feels a bit like groundhog day, although cannot find the solution using some of my posts.

This used to all work

I have a Thru machine monitoring C+D, volume turned up

Can’t hear the sound at all (which btw is nyx v2 input into octatrack) (I am using keystep HOLD on a note)

If I turn up DIR on CD i hear it… ok… so now i record, and it records on just the left channel in logic pro!

Does anybody know what got mangled, I had this all working, and no its nothing to do with scenes these are switched off.

Also, I removed a trig press on this thru machine (lit up on 9), otherwise when I hold a note I get a click half way through… which began this whole problem !

Thanks!!

Do you have a playback trig on the sequencer on the Thru track?

I’m thinking the same thing as lowph - have you placed a trig on step one of the Thru machine track? trigs on the Thru machine tracks are needed to activate the audio throughput. I’ve never tried placing a trig anywhere other than step one on a Thru machine track, so I don’t know for sure if that’s a problem or not.

the issue with Logic recording only one channel of a stereo track could be several things - the cable, the audio interface, a Logic track setting, or the OT… it sounds like some methodical troubleshooting is in order.

Weirdly I just switched this to T8 (I was using T7), on that thru machine, which has no playback TRIG on the track, and I can hear the sound now !!!

OK, yeah, it’s definitely the OT

Well, I don’t need trigs now do I ??
Which solves the main issue i was having in the first place, clicks at start when note is being played

ha hah , i switched octatrack off then on… and back to original problem… this is crazy
Fixed by laying down a trig as you all suggested.

crazy stuff

Another thing on the OT that can cause confusion: you need to trigger playback on a Thru track, but then if you remove that trig, the Thru track will still play when you start transport the next time. Is this perhaps what’s going on?

I think you are right, I had the trig on but it was in the middle so it caused a little glitch when a hold note was played so i probably took it off…

I recently learned that Thru tracks are disabled (i.e. not “muted”, but rather set to “gate closed” which is invisible in the UI) automatically if you double-press the STOP button and most of the times also when you restart the OT. You can re-enable them by holding the Track button of the Thru track and then pressing PLAY.

Additionally, you can force the gate to open when playback starts by putting a Trig on step one of the Thru track as already suggested.
