Thru Machine + Scene = Muted Input?!

Hey Guys,

i have a very dumb question regarding the OT and the use of Scenes with Thru machines. First of all i would like to explain what i did:

I connected my Machinedrum to Input AB of the OT. I then added a Thru Machine to the first track and assigned Input AB to it. I triggered it manually and the Machinedrum could be heard. So far so good.

Now i went to the effects and with Scene B Button pressed i raised the filter Base alongside its Q (you know the effect this has i guess  ) and i also raised the Send for the Delay. After that i released Scene B Button.

Ok, now: When i start to move the crossfader i dont get that nice Filtersweep but i rather turn down the volume of my input ^^ Until theres finally silence then im at the right most position. Moving back with the fader i dont get the audio back, i have to retrigger the track.

At first i thought this could have to do with the sequencer of the OT not running but nada: If i run the sequencer (even in sync with the MD) and have trigs on the first step of each bar it still doesnt work - it only restarts the audio at each beginning of the new bar :frowning:

So, please tell me: Did i get this wrong?? How can i manage to use the scenes with my Thru Machines the way i can use them with the regular Flex/ics?

Many thanks in advance!
Steffen

Is it possible you accidentally bumped the ā€œLevelā€ knob while tweaking your filter parameters? Check the scene level when you press the trig. This seems likely, and would be an easy mistake to make, I seem to do it a lot (sausage fingers).

Edit:
I missed the part about the audio not retriggering…
If you have the record setup menu open while placing a trig you could have accidentally made a one-shot trig. Or did you maybe tweak the amp envelope and p-lock it?

Or even simpler- did you adjust your amp envelope to ā€œfully openā€ (Hold + Release all the way up) on your thru track? You would need to do this for what you are doing.

Not condescending, these are all mistakes I have made. Good luck figuring it out.

Hey Slaughtrhaus,

yeah - thats it! I’m such a dumbass - the XLV was at 0  Hehe sometimes you dont see the wood because of those tons of trees.

Many thanks for your hint into the absolutely right direction!

Cheers

And PS: Yes i did the Hold and REL at Max, this way you actually dont need to retrigger the Thru Machine at all - its almost the same way you trigger the Input Machines in Gated Mode on the MD - once triggered, they stay open. And i really wasnt in any of the Track Recorders Setups  Made this mistake before - wanted to trigger my sample i just recorded but actually placed a new record trigger and still had the inputs AB selected - with no sound on them the sample was then gone
