While I know you can put Write Protect on in Project Manager, I would really welcome another kind of “Write Protect mode”: In this “mode” whatever you do to your patterns or sounds those settings would not automatically save to it. In other words, if you change pattern and came back, edited pattern would be intact. To me this woud be good especially on live situations. I don’t allways like the way Elektrons automatically save those settings. I know there’s “save pattern / reload pattern” buttons but I would like to have this change to automatically NOT-save adjustments.
Just save a duplicate of your project, and name it the “Live Version”. That way the original is always intact, and you can duplicate it every time you have a show or performance, to have one to tweak live.
Well, to be exact: the devices don’t automatically save, but only modify the content in RAM. Unless you manually trigger a save nothing will change on the +drive (or the CF card on the OT).
Of course with the Digitakt/Digitone (where sound settings are also stored in the pattern) it may be easy to implement a “automatically restore pattern on pattern exit” feature.
The A4, for example, already supports automatically reloading of a kit to its saved state when a new kit becomes active (KIT RELOAD ON CHG).
“automatically restore pattern on pattern exit” -feature is what I’d like to have. On stage, when every button clickin takes time, I don’t like to use “Reload Ptn” every time I change pattern. It also too easy to forget that you did something on some pattern. As @tnussb said, it would be probably quite easy to have this option for a project.
