I should’ve known he created it. If I would’ve thought about it for more than a second…

Yet still that playing is great. How I wish I could play this thing

For a practical follow-up to the video there is this one, which isn’t a tutorial per se but uses all of the concepts described there:

Simply fantastic - I sold my Rytm before SY Chip was added, kind of getting sellers remorse after seeing these

Really great implementation and great walkthrough and demos @ThomasJ

this is amazing! the only thing it’s missing is a “Generate Serial” button and some cool assembly animation

Amazing tutorials and skills. Bringing back C64 memories and unlocking more potential with the Rytm.

Thanks! And sorry about your moves, good luck they are available both new and used

Hehe, writing “MOS 6510 assembly export” on the feature-request list

Thank you! Yes, this is heavily inspired by C64 stuff for sure. And yes, with the latest update there are a lot of extended possibilities with the Rytm!

A model:sid based on SY Chip would be a hot seller!

yup been there - just got a decent mk1 for not too much dough, sy chip sounds to me like a mc202 playing a wonderful variable arpeggio - it is lovely to play with and change the offset notes - i don’t have a thing for chip tune at all, but the slow arp is just so good

I dunno…that kinda seems like what we’re looking at!

Sure if you own a Rytm. I just imagine a 6 track version in the models format, in breadbin livery, with ASID support, dang :sunglasses:

For people in the know on Chip Tune synths, is the Rytm/SY Chip now pretty much fully featured?
Or does it have limitations? Is being analog an ‘issue’?

How is it compared to the Syntakt?
How is it compared to a dedicated Chip synth like MegaFM?

In terms of as far as C64 type sounds, I think it sounds and behaves very similar, not surprising considering @ThomasJ made it.

It is not really too much like the MegaFM though some of the play style fx are common to FM sound chips (fast arps/broken chord, sweep and vibrato) but I think tone wise the Syntakt digital engines are more suited to emulation of FM chips. (Or Digitone of course)

Wow, I wondered what type of Model:Something they could do in the future and Model:Sid is definitely one of the best ideas.

As a huge retro games fan, the Sy Chip machine was one of the things that won me over the Rytm MkII over the Syntakt.

Only had it for a few days, but I think I’ve spent more time in Sy Chip than any other machine…

Well it would also be a nice homage to the Sidstation 25th Anniversary :sunglasses: But I guess it is not realistic as the Models are entirely digital, and it would probably not be cost effective to have analog circuits in that platform.

I’ve been listening to chiptune playlists on Spotify on the back of this thread. :+1:

It’s making me want to have a go…
