The Syntakt Feature Request Thread

Feature request: Make CY ALLOY sound good cause it sounds really bad without lots of filtering, even then it’s still kind of bad. Please add more percussive digital machines! Syntakt is really close to being the perfect box IMO.

You have a sampler now so you can use any hat/cymbal sound in the world.

Feature request: please rework the modifiers!!

  • most needed is the possibility to apply them in a trigless mode onto recorded, sequenced trigs (has been requested a lot)
  • I also like this idea people were suggesting, to make them work like ot scenes

apart from that - super awesome instrument, even better since the last update!!

And this…

One issue with freely assignable LFOs, and I suspect why elektron abandoned the idea, is that they kinda break the ability to save a preset. On the MD there are no individual presets, just kits. On the modern digi devices each voice has its own LFOs, and presets can have all the LFOs attached. If they were freely assignable there is no real way to save the LFOs with the presets, since some presets would use more and some would use fewer LFOs.

I mean we can use midi loopback and get 11 midi lfos two on the individual machine plus two on the fx block but it means you lose all your machines…i still like the idea of freely assignable ones. You could record the patch and feed it back to the syntakt as a sample, or if they added internal sampling that would be amazing, im not being critical I was more than happy with the syntakt before the update, but now im in love😍…lols

basically it would allow the same treatment as before but imagine the lfos could just enter more destinations (other tracks) and a setting for global or pattern based lfos to save it with your sound

The concept of multiple destinations for each LFO is nice. I would welcome it even if it was locked within the same track or sound. Let’s say the LFO destination list would enable the selection of multiple destinations, just like the preset tagging menu allows multiple selections. It would make the two existing LFOs even more useful.

I would never trade the ST «2 dedicated LFOs» setup for the MD»single routable LFO» setup though. It’s nice if one LFO is all you have, but not nearly as powerful.

We already have a modulation matrix. Maybe the LFOs could send their modulations to the wheel/breath/aftertouch values.

Add a couple of ADSR envelopes to the LFO section and you could do all sorts of things. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is smart, I use an external controllers/ableton to do just that :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes ability to route to other tracks parameters and the sound set up page incuding most importantly mod section knobs within the lfo destination page would be a game changer

I have to say i like the ability to send midi sequences out and still have your machine track, its a great feature of the model samples and likely the cycles, i dont know how the syntakt could incorporate this as its midi machine is quite deep but would be nice, just toggle between pages i guess…

I realize the songmode for DT1, DN1, ST is more or less the same and i am grateful that we got it as farewell-gift for DT1 and DN1.

However, ST is still developed, and one of my favorite machines - soundwise and speedwise.

I really would love to have some of the song mode features available on ST, that are so great in the other machines: MnM, (MD), and OT, that is the complete package:

  • set start trig
  • set end trig
  • nested loops
  • mutes selectable per track (as is)
  • transpose selectable per track (and song step)

That would save so much copy and paste in normal settings that either contain some glitch-stuff or some melodic stuff (every electro-pop wave thingy).

If the new track scale time divisions would cause headaches - just set start and stop trigs/steps as to be obtained from track 1.

Even start trig alone would help (without transpose), because one could program 4 variations in the 4 pages and still program the chord progression in song mode (1: 4x 1-16, 2: 2x 17-32 etc).

(The workaround to just use 4 patterns is not that easy, because ST does not use kits, so if you change a sound on one of the four patterns (three of them just exist for transposition), you have to make sure to copy it to each pattern.)

Also upbeat and interesting shifts would be easy with a column for start step.

Dev and AI Dev friendly summary

Feature Request: Song Mode — Start Step Offset & Per-Track Transpose

Product: Elektron Syntakt Component: Song Mode Type: Enhancement

Terminology:

  • “start step” / “start trig” = “offset” in MnM/OT legacy UI

Current Behavior

Song rows support: pattern select, row repeat count, end step, per-track mute. Syntakt has no kit architecture; sound parameters are stored per-pattern, so edits must be propagated manually to all copies.

Requested Changes

1. Start Step Offset (per song row) Add an offset column to each song row specifying the first step to play. Combined with the existing end step, this gives full sub-pattern addressing, matching the MnM/OT song row offset parameter. If per-track time-scale divisions create ambiguity, offset can be derived from Track 1’s time base only.

2. Per-Track Transpose (per song row) Add a transpose value (semitones) assignable per track at each song row. This eliminates duplicating patterns solely for pitch changes and keeps sound edits in a single source pattern.

3. Nested Loops Allow loop markers within the song list to reference a range of rows, as implemented in MnM/OT.

Use Cases

  • Program 4 variations across pages 1–4 of one pattern; address them via offset (row 1: offset 1 / end 16 × 4 reps, row 2: offset 17 / end 32 × 2 reps).
  • Apply transpose per row instead of maintaining N copies of a pattern with identical sound data.
  • Offset to a mid-pattern step for pickup bars and rhythmic displacement.

Minimum Viable Scope

Start step offset alone would already remove the need for multi-pattern duplication workarounds.

Morph kit (or between kits)

So, we can control a parameter across all tracks, and that’s cool.

But what if we could assign 2 “states” to every parameter?

Hypothetical workflow example:

In settings we set TRACK to “Morph” mode (instead of, say, “Parameter All” mode). Now, hold TRACK and and adjust a parameter, then hold FUNC+TRACK and adjust that parameter again. The former will be state A and the latter state B. Do this for every parameter you want to change.
To morph between those states, hold TRACK and turn LEVEL/DATA (or any parameter knob, because we are in “Morph” mode let’s say it wouldn’t change only that parameter)

Has anything like this been requested before?

Cheers

I would like to see ramdomise on triggers and sequences

At least 3 parametric equalizer points per channel, if not then on the master. What’s wrong with Syntakt in the 2kHz to 5kHz frequencies?
