This could be fixed if Elektron introduced a MIDI machine(s) that specializes in being routed internally to add additional sequencing/modulation to other tracks and/or global FX, etc.
would be big that
Both the dry signal and the reverb output are true stereo. The summing to mono* only happens internally, you don’t hear any of that.
*The reason that works so well is because even in the real world were you to hear a sound reverberating in a big chamber or hall but somehow only the indirect reflections would hit your ear, you wouldn’t be able to accurately tell where that sound is actually located.
as was mentioned here before:
I really hope Elektron looses the shackles on the AHFX algos, so they can be freely combined/multiplied with each other and also yes, we do get more than THAT one Reverb algo
there’s a reason I have a BigSky here next to these machines, coz for the life of me, I can’t make the Elektron standard reverb sound good with all materials (especially on drums I can’t figure out settings that don’t sound hollow and kinda crappy).
Room, Hall, Spring should be the least and +1 to collabos with other makers. Can you imagine the Clouds algo in Digitone or the AHFX?! brain goes poof
Here’s to another 13 years!
Rumpelstiltskin Reverb
Hope they bring some of the tonverk effects on to the recent machines.
i’m highly doubtful of that happening.
elektron’s business model is built around limiting functionality to specific machines, so you gotta collect em all.
in capitalism there is not an incentive for a corporation to offer the best product possible, but rather the most profitable product.
if elektron gives these effects to current customers, they are less likely to buy the new product.
I think some of the new effects are going to be put in to the DT/DN2, guess we’ll see eventually.
There are so many effects on the TV because it is way more powerful.
This new architecture still has a lot to give. But even the “regular” FX sound a bit different, plus modulations and plocks are back.
We were sold on the fact the DT2 and DN2 were extra powerful machines with a new architecture.
Now we’re told there’s a new new architecture, with extra special sauce inside. It’s kinda hard to swallow
This is a problem of marketing and technical definitions that should not be mixed. Technical statements should not be loosely thrown around like that. They are too dubious and open to interpretation. It’s the same when someone talks about CPU power.
Are your DT2 and DN2 worse than they were a week ago?
The prospects for future updates to DT2 have changed for the worse, it seems to me. Lots of features that were being requested for DT2 (multiple reverb buses, polyphony, …) have now appeared on Tonverk, making their future appearance on DT2 unlikely.
OTOH if this is the same new platform (rather than a new new platform) maybe we will seem some features cross-ported.,
Were these ever a serious possibility for the DT? You speak as if they were a guarantee, stolen from you by the introduction of the Toneverk.
And the best part… This happens the same month you got slicing. The number one most requested feature on the DT for years (that doesn’t look like it would ever come to TV.)
Back to my point. It’s fair to get a bit of update envy when something new and shiny comes out but it’s gotten out of hand with the last few boxes.
Are the DT2 / DN2 any worse than they were a week ago? If you were on an island and never heard about the TV, would you have noticed a degrade?
I think people need to put serious thought into whether or not they are ready to buy the box as it stands and not contingent on future additions.
Now I’ll admit, Elektron themselves muddied the waters just a bit when then start incorporating “and more to come” into their release copy on things like the DT. But I digress… You got slicing. If DT2 ended here, it would be a phenomenal machine capable of a body of work. It already was. The slicing was a FAT cherry on top.
As far as being sold that the DT2/DN2 were the latest and greatest new platform, I don’t know what to say. I bought a DT2 based on what it could do for me on launch. Not for it’s processor potential for future requests.
Those were extreme examples. I never said ‘guarantee’. There were many things that were possible to some degree, and now seem less likely, if this really is a new new platform. Added to which, if Elektron are going to add slicing features, before Tonverk, there was only one realistic place for them to happen. Now there are two, and DT2 may not get any of the goodies.
Stirring the pot a little bit, the Digitone II has the same 32GB eMMC memory that Digitakt II does, because they have identical PCBs. So Digitone II with polyphonic samples? Or the other way around with Digitakt II and polyphony? IDK
I also think when it comes to adding new FX, if internal hardware “bottlenecks” are an issue, why swapping out and selective choice is not… the choice? Isn’t that the point of machines? So no one is saying the reverb has to be the supershift reverb and a new reverb algo. Rather, the ability to choose between one or the other would be welcome.
M8 just did this by changing the chorus FX into a selectable FX mod slot instead. You can use chorus, or you can use something else in its place.
agree and Erica Synths and other synth companies are doing far more interesting things these days. Hence why my new gear is not Elektron. Tonverk is not really interesting enough for me to sell my current Elektron boxes for example.a
Why did I even read this one?

No dogs in this fight, but this message is kinda peak internet and gave me a chuckle:
- Notice that people are talking about some thing you don’t care about
- Declare to people talking about the thing, that you don’t care about the thing
- Tell the people talking about the thing that you’re not going to listen to them talk about the thing anymore!
