Tried this now, and it works.
However, if I have a pattern which already contains information at 8 LPB and I then change it to 16 LPB, it (obviously) goes off at double tempo. Can I somehow “convert” a pattern I have programmed at 8 LPB to 16 LPB?

If you bring out the advanced pattern editor sidebar (A<–>E button to the right of the pattern editor) there’s an ‘expand’ function there. Highlight your original pattern info then use that (with the pattern length doubled too, of course) and it should do what you’re after. It defaults to alt+F9 on Windows.

Being among the many* beta testers is a weird taste of what it must be like for developers/manufacturers… Seeing forum threads of people screaming for Redux MIDI out etc. and you can’t say anything even though you know it’s coming

I was so happy to see microtuning in there, I never thought it would happen but it’s implemented in just the way I’d have hoped too. I had fun microtuning the LFO demo track in various ways.

*I’m pretty sure half their forum users must be in there!

This made my day! Phrase scripting seems very interesting. Do I understand correctly that it’s possible to sort of jam with code? And just last week I’ve been thinking how great it would be to have multiple effect chains in one track and here it is, even better than I imagined! I’ve also been waiting for Redux midi out & VST3. It’s been 15 years since I last paid for Renoise update (2.5), very happy to support it again!

Edit: just saw my licence it’s still valid for 3.5. Nuts!

yes, you can livecode with it, livecoding’s been a thing for while now, and has vibrant communities surrounding it (see: supercollider, tidalcycles, chuck, etc)

its nice to see it included within renoise itself

Finally, payday is here. Before I pull the trigger on Redux, can somebody just confirm for me real quick - with Redux, I can use the built in phrase scripting to output MIDI data to my DAW? Which will then be able to output said MIDI to my external HW synths?

Just say the word and I’ll buy the shit out of this thing

I was wondering about the “demo mode limit” - occasional noise bursts… If I mute the audio and use only the MIDI phrase thing, does that mean the demo limitations dont even apply?

Probably but you gotta show some love to the amazing Renoise team bro. The price is particularly cheap for what you can do.

I’d even say that for what you want to do (send midi from Redux to the DAW and then to a HW synth) it would be easier to use Renoise to send directly midi to your HW synth.

I mean come on, the complete DAW is like 76 euros (vs 48 euros for Redux), that’s crazy !

Just installed the demo and it actually works just like I theorized. The devs need to change the demo limitations to also include the MIDI output somehow… Perhaps it could mute all MIDI when it outputs the noise? idk. But as it is, you can basically use redux as a free MIDI generator/seq…

I specifically wanted Redux instead of Renoise, because I want to be as DAW-agnostic in general as possible. This keeps most options on the table for me, regardless if I’m using ProTools, Logic, Live, Maschine or LUNA. So now, Redux will join my trusty UAD, NI, U-he and Izotope plugins, ie. my indispensable tools which I rely on both for my day job as well as off-duty dabblings.
