The Quickest and Most Inspiring Device for coming up with new ideas?

This sounds familiar to me. I had to learn “to finish” and to say “that’s it”. Not that easy …

If your perfectionism revolves around “copy as close as possible”, it might be a good idea to abandon this objective. Just try to be yourself … try to use the work of the others as an inspiration (only), and create your own thing … if this makes any sense.

It makes perfect sense. I have terrible 'imposter syndrome ’ too. Which means no matter what i create it always feels inferior.

Fair point. I will see how it pans out this year. I’m sure it will hold its value so thats a good thing.

For me, it’s the Maschine MK3. I like a lot of the sounds on offer, which when combined with the velocity sensitivity of the pads and recording without quantisation means that I often get something that sounds organic and inspiring in a way that I’ll never get from using a mouse and drawing something in. I know that i could get a similar result using any number of synths and a keyboard, but I find the Maschine browser very effective in helping me find the sounds I want. I’m also not a keyboard player so being able to set the pads to a particular scale can be helpful, although i like using them chromatically too. I find it a fantastic way to get an idea started.

Remember that you are the only one to be able to do what you do.
Comparison is irrelevant.

That needs to be another Mantra for me. Somewhere along the way i lost that belief.
