I love the Octatrack and one of these days I gotta reprogram all of my Digitakt songs onto it so I can sell the Digitakt!
noooooo not the digitakt
For me it was the opposite, bought dt2 and sold ot2
Ot has many options that i dont use, understand and want
Dt has a few options and i use then all the time in different ways. Even (not live) looping for song transition is a success with dt2.
noooo not the octatrack
Octatrack is amazing.
Integral part of my setup. Provides master clock, sequencing, pattern changes, acts as a submixer, and for the latest album, I sampled all the digitone parts, making loops and did the OT magic with said loops.

you got dangerously close to jazz hands buddy, otherwise well done
I always sleep on that DJ EQ, and then when I get around to using it I have a “Why the hell haven’t I been using this more often?” moment.
While I don’t track ever OT thread on this forum, I feel like the DJ EQ is the most slept on effect in the OT. Such a raw sound if you’re into that.
Trying to make some “house” with the OT. It’s really a techno machine for me though
Interesting. I should try to use it a little more.
Are you mostly using it for cutting low/high frequencies or to enhance the mids ?
I use it more for creative uses versus corrective uses. So I’m pretty extreme with it. I use it to bring out character and sounds
Old gear with old fx…
Octatrack is unique. I want to go back to its main strengths, raison d’ètre, with realtime mangling / sequencing of recordings, that come from Machinedrum RAM machines.
No samples, incoming signal processing only…
Same pattern at faster tempo :
I tried to make granular stuff with Octatrack but with 8 grains it is limited , even if you can cheat with resampling with feedback…
Now I have the Tempera, best surprise since Octatrack, and I can put it in the OT feedback loop !
For now I concentrate on Tempera amazing possibilities…
Tempera newbie recording with OT feedback loop for shimmeric granular fx…
Nice tune
I was messing around the other night after a studio rearrange. Resampled the output and ran that as a loop against main beat, then used the dj mixer. Yeah, its a really bloody good creative effect. I was very surprised, I havent really used it much in my ten years of octatracking.
Good to see this thread is still active. Here’s four short tracks I made for the recent Sampler Loop Jam Battle #1 with just the eight supplied samples.
Incorporated the MPC Key 37 for the synth stuff - useful sound module
Been thinking about the Octatrack lately. Does anyone know if there is a new model coming? Like an MK3 or so?
Of course ! How did you miss it ?
Cool, I think they should go for a MK3. Seems like many want one…
so beautiful, the MK I, a masterpiece
