The Octatrack IS a modular synth

I dawned on me that the octatrack is a very special sample oriented modular synthesizer.
I often “chain” sample… meaning most often I start of by catching something on a Pickup machine, and perhaps have a few Flex machines sampling my external sound source, then i set other flex machines to sample other tracks. most often very short snippets, like 1 to 5 steps… and most often i don’t sample on “ONE” but have a trigger to sample on the 3rd or 11th or 25th step… sometimes in several places… and the i re sample THAT track to another flex, often on different pattern length, one Flex may play 16 steps, another 20, a third 48 and so on. That way re sampling will be almost random.
Often i also have P-locks on pitch, rate, effect parameters and more so the “melodies” will not conform to any 12 tone system

But anyways, the octatrack is an amazing creative music easel!!
An example is here, it is a OP-1 being looped and sampled by the OCta (my first OP-1 recording, but the Octa is really doing most of the “hard” job) I think there are 3 diffrent sound from the OP-1…

I call it a modular sampler.

The Octatrack IS being used refreshingly nicely here

This is really cool, wicked textures, reminds me of the Make Noise Phonogene.
You should copy this link to the OT special tricks thread

Thanks guys, what i forgot to mention is that it is only one pattern but a lot of me alternating between the four parts… each part have slightly different setups and are also set to sample different tracks…
So the different parts develop rather differently and by changing parts i introduce variation…

I would love to see a video of how this was made (or something similar) as this is very different in approach to the usual OT stuff and right up my allee.

Lovely.
