The logo thread

Thank you - no, not high profile at all! I designed that when I was in my final year at art college. I have a family connection to TI’s management so that’s how I got the chance to submit a few designs. They had designs from a few different people (including an actually-high-profile old Pentagram guy). They put them all in front of Tony anonymously, no accreditation on any of them so he didn’t know who had designed them. He chose the one he liked best and that happened to be mine.

Ha wow, that’s so cool! It’s really iconic.

Very kind of you! It’s funny to look at it >20 years on. I remember the way I designed it, really rigidly on a dot grid in Macromedia Freehand 8 (the way Ian Anderson from the Designers Republic did everything) - it created some weird proportions (especially the circular O and the spacing around it). Probably not how I’d design something these days but I think it gives it a certain dynamism that works.

Highlight for me was being sent a photo of it airbrushed 6 feet tall on the side of a giant tour bus. :joy:

I love @Ess’ taste in logos ^^

The following is my own work for a company using drones to help victims.

Ha, yeah, I think that’s part of what makes it stand out so much. Did you get any other work off the back of that?

Yeah, his visual work is a huge inspiration for my own design.

I’m loving all the replies to this thread.
It’s good to remind myself how much creativity and positivity there is in the world (and on this forum!)

I don’t know if there was anything that came specifically from that, but it definitely went in the folio! I’ve been focused on digital product design (UX/UI) for the last 15 years or so but I still do the odd logo / branding piece. I was contracting as a product designer at a digital identity startup a few years back and got involved with their rebrand, including designing their logo: yoti.com

Oooo, that’s a sweet one too. I could definitely stare at that, spinning at a cool 45rpm. The one I posted is Subtitles Music UK.
