It looks great in Fiesta Red.
Just clocked that they’ve used the neodymium Celestion creambacks in the 68 Custom Pro Reverb to bring the weight right down. Really cool looking 40w combo.

Huh, they triple-pup’ed the jazzmaster. That’s cool!

Trying to figure out if they’ve 2-pieced the maple neck on those, as there’s no skunk stripe.
New Gretsch models announced. They remind me that there is yet another type of guitar missing from my toolkit - semihollow with Bigsby
I’ve got one, and sounds and plays absolutely incredible! A few potential items to keep in mind when getting a Gretsch:
I absolutely love my Falcon, but I tend to use my Strat more. I grab the Gretsch anytime I have an opportunity to play loud. Turns it into a bit of a special occasion.
A recent local news story from this part of the world to make any Gretsch lover weep!
This Streamliner model caught my eye:

I got this email because I bought an Eastwood tenor guitar (Warren Ellis 5). Useful guide to chords in the variety of tunings used on tenor guitar
Way Huge Atreides looks wild. Lots of great synth/fuzz (or fuzz/synth?) pedals out there, but not to often have I seen one pedal maker devote this much time to another pedal maker’s pedal.
“If you play your SRV blues licks, it will sound like crap” - Ya think? But the stereotype of guitarists having low IQ compared to other instrumentalists compels them to include that warning.
I watch Josh and the JHS show but its such a grift haha, and just an ad for JHS, which he gets to monetise through youtube AND Patreon. He gets people to pay him to advertise to them, hes a super-villain haha. He can talk about another pedal maker and it boosts his profile and makes him seem like a nice guy which is great for the company, I cant help but find it all very cynical. Like I said, I watch the show and I even bought a pedal that I love because I saw it on there, but its still just marketing for JHS.
I can only presume Way Huge will also make money on it because it’s got the Way Huge logo on it.
Looks more interesting and realistically affordable than the Bliss Factory.
yeah for sure, my point was just that Josh isnt doing it out the goodness of his heart. It does look great though. I would say its too different to the Bliss Factory to really compare though, they do very different things. It probably closer to a Blue Box (which is fantastic and pretty cheap) but with a lot more control.
He said Jeorg Tripps asked him to do it - which I guess is another way of saying there’s a business arrangement that benefits him in some way, in exchange for making the video.
Still, it’s unusual for one pedal maker to rep another in a video - money or not.
I guess I compared it to CBA because of the sliders. I like the simpler design of non-motorized sliders.
My point is, regardless of any business arrangement between JHS or Way Huge, JHS are always going to benefit as they get more content for the channel which covered in JHS branding and always going to serve primarily as an advertisement for JHS. The Video could purport to be about anything but its always going to be at its root an ad to sell more pedals. Same with how personalised the brand is with Josh, it serves the company well when he looks like a nice guy so he does these favours for his friends and pretends theres nothing more to it. All advertising is fundamentally dishonest but I cant help but think theres something particularly unpleasant about the way JHS do it. Anyway, yeah I think the sliders are very cool and I think bringing back the circuit for that weird old EH synth is a really fun idea.
I just assume money flows in all directions when it comes to gear videos, so that stuff doesn’t bother me. I don’t have a personal history w/ JHS. I’ve heard some other people say things about JHS .
I don’t own JHS gear. Don’t plan to. It’s not because of the JHS marketing style or whatever you want to call it. It’s just that any gear they have to offer, I already have the equivalent of.
I’ll stay out of further discussion about JHS.
Yeah I don’t have a problem with him but I do think Josh Scott has hit upon a very effective way of boosting his own company’s profile. He’s a prolific networker. Seems a decent enough guy and his pedals are pretty good, but he really works it. They have done a couple of pretty awful vids where he’s plugging the heck out of a friend’s band, or restaurant, or whatever.
As an anime fan, particularly the show K-On!, I’m enjoying this person’s review of the Azusa Nakano model Mustang.
I found that video after watching this one of Ayana Taketatsu performing “U & I” from K-On! She was Azusa’s voice actress. I think she might be playing a real Fender Mustang - at least it has a Mustang bridge, unlike the “official Asuza guitar” above which arrived with a Jazzmaster bridge. Not bad for someone who didn’t play any instruments until she was cast in K-On! then asked to learn to play guitar for the live extravaganza.
Too rich for my blood but a pretty impressive Russian Big Muff collection at my local used instrument shop. I’ve never seen many of these in person before. If I was stupid rich, this is the kind of art I would collect.
I recently came across these guys on YouTube. Man I love this guy’s playing. Sweet guitars too. I would love an old Harmony or Silvertone, but never seem to come across any.
I just discovered that thread and i don’t think i saw mentioned the Meris Enzo.
Seems like a great way to turn a guitar into a synth.
I would be curious to try out a software like Jam Origin. I wanna play trumpet with a guitar
On another note i spent a bit of time searching for a lighter/smaller guitar than my heavy Telecaster before the general mess as i used to travel quite a lot.
I met a luthier in France who was doing some serious job and would have pulled the trigger on one of his models if had still a job.
These are full scale neck and despite looking a bit akward they are surprisingly comfortable to play with the collapsible parts that can recreate a full body sensation when holding the instrument.
He’s also making his own mics and had a guitar where you can replace mics on the fly to try out different tones.
76cm long and like 2kg something on the scale, would be a breath to travel.
