I’m afraid it’s not me, but who will? I’m so excited waiting for it to be shipped from my retailer (within 3 days), but I guess we can expect the first YouTube video’s or soundcloud clips to be posted any time soon now. If you are so lucky to receive one of the first units, please don’t hesitate to post something, heck anything. This will make the wait for the box (even the manual) a bit easier to bear (yeah, I looked it up and it’s bear instead of bare).
I wonder how long it will be before one appears in the marketplace on this forum. With the Analog four over on Elektron users it was just over a fortnight sighting it not sounding like a moog as the reason for sale.
It’s only mono sample playback. Weak. I can only make good music with stereo drums.
-It doesn’t sequence like any MPC.
-11 minutes of sample time isn’t a lot
-This really should of had a sample in
-The ableton push pads feel better.
-The maschine’s pads feel better.
-P -Locking is overated.
-They should of used Moog ladder filters for every output.
It doesn’t sound like a 909
It’s just another EDM groovebox
It’s not hip-hop enough
The endless rotary knobs feel weird.
The compressor doesn’t make my drums punchy enough
I’ve gotten bored with it and realised that making music on my laptop is more intuitive.
The presets are boring.
No analog LFOs for digital playback? weak.
That’s all I can think of. I got my tripod ready and now all I need to do is clean up my desk I’ll be practicing on and I’ll make some vids too.

That sould be real deal breakers! ha ha

Enjoy your new “toy”!
I’ll be watching every bit of the incoming vids for sure! ha ha!

it doesn’t sound like acoustic drums
it should have all features of ableton on board at this price point
the individual outs are not individual enough
the analog filters are not analog enough
it should have CV in and out for every parameter
it should have a 16 layers of samples per track
tracks are monophonic, we want polyfonic kickdrums
I know this is a piss take thread but 2 or more layers of samples would in fact be pretty awesome, If youve ever played with an MPC 1000/2500/5000 you’ll know just how much cool stuff you can do with layering per pad.

I think we have all deal breakers covered… Or maybe not…
I really really want to midi control the coffee machine!
@AikiGhost : That should be the “it’s not an MPC” deal breaker.
Well, let’s see what people come up with the RYTM’s only 1 analog + 1 sample per voice. I’m pretty sure there will be cool stuff shown with all the talents in here.
Let’s wait for the users to show what can be done (in real life)! There will be updates, there will be workarounds, there will be discoveries, as the previous machines. And maybe you would not use it as you firstly intended to, and forget about the 2 lacking layers. … who knows?
@elenacortes : Let’s give people ideas to sale their early adopted AR!
ha ha
Oh yes not really a complaint but extra sample layers are great, for example I will often layer a normal kick, a sub bass sine wave and then vinyl noise on a single pad on my MPC each of which will have an individual level, tuning, etc. This makes for some really heavy and interesting tones on each pad.
But yes I’m sure the analog sound design combines with my own custom processed samples will make for an interesting sound palette.
Ill probably spend the next month or so rendering LOTS of multi layered samples with extra noise and grit for use in the RYTM.
For anyone who hasn’t already got it, Id highly recommend Twisted Tools S-Layer for this kind of activity. Next level sound design IMHO.
@AikiGhost : Yes. It may change your workflow a bit. But then you already have a MPC, as I do. So it depends on whether you wanted to replace the MPC or not… Only practicing with both will tell.
From what we know, you can : make a big analog kick with tail + accoustic kick sample (+overdrive + filter). You should process your sample kick with the vinyl noise, or find another way to get that grain in real time.
Lucky you! A lot of exciting discoveries on new territory incoming! Enjoy!
Seriously, I’m always amazed at the whining that goes on about gear. It’s like they want every piece of gear to be simultaneously every piece of gear ever made!
