yup.
Yep, I think that may well have been it, thanks again! Now to tackle one last scratchy effect send pot…
Deoxit fader lube in the little clear tube might help but it depends on how bad the pot actually is. If possible, I would avoid sprays, deoxit or otherwise, on any pot.

Took a bit of a risk (less than for parts ones on eBay at least but yeah not cheap) on this teac c-3x marked as having noisy on the left channel input turned out to just be a noisy trimmer in the bias, worked it back and forth and it’s running happy now, probably should replace them at some point. Did some AB recording and listening between it and the akai gxc-760d with type 1 music grade tape. Probably partially because you can dial in all the bias stuff from the front panel the recordings from the teac recording is really great. GXC 760D I think is a little nicer in the playback but I’ve also not done any maintenance to the teac play heads. Stoked to have another nice deck on the desk.
Pleased as pleach ahem erm peach to report that the Burning Books - Taller Than God cassettes are here. Hi-Fi and pro-dubbed in realtime with a white shell encasing.
Post office run coming up real soon. 10% off anything today with code LOYAL
Turned out to be more worth it than I ever imagined. Listening to my own voice as a ten year old was a good reminder that I’ve always been kind of annoying. ![]()
Just for fun, here’s my Digitone II-to-4-track melodic ambient set. I mostly put it on tape to try something new, and the material lent itself to fade-ins, fade-outs, and effect pedal sends (one set to tape cue for full-wet reverb). Not sure I’ll make a habit of it, but I like having the set on cassette, to play back again sometime…
Does anyone has a recommendation for a walkman with stereo recorder function?
Not too expensive please.
Thanks.
these were rather rare I believe. And the most expensive.
A much better option would be a dictaphone, those with small cassettes. These were produced in large numbers. If there were stereo recorders in that format I don’t know.
This is my understanding as well. Not many walkman models with stereo line in were produced, and models with noise reduction and type II (and IV) are almost non-existant - only the Sony WM-D3 and WM-D6C afaik. The ones that exist are old and expensive. I reluctantly sold a WM-D3 last year, simply because I couldn’t find anyone to fix it in my country. Lovely little engineering masterpieces, but not very practical.
If you need portable stereo cassette recording I’d look for a Sony TC-D5 or one of the Marantz CP or PMD series. Bigger, but a lot more rugged. I have a CP230, they’re not too expensive. Feels very stable and well built. I’m not so familiar with the PMD series, at least one of them is mono only but you might find a stereo model.
It’s all vintage gear with moving mechanical parts though, so repair and adjustment is to be expected at some point.
I believe I read that the CP and PMD models are the same series marketed on different continents but that may not be entirely accurate, just something that I read while trying to determine if they were mechanically similar.

Google seems to agree as well but that doesn’t mean much.
Ah, good to know.
Just scored these guys to take me back to the 90’s.
ZX-7 is decent condition, but the Dragon is shafted.
Just ran a jam through it; forgot how nice it was just recording to tape.
The best Nakamichis of all time - congrats!
Those have become pretty rare!
Just picked this up it is In beautiful condition looks barely used, can’t wait to set it up and start recording over Christmas ![]()
Hell yeah!
I’m really happy with it, it really is in great condition, just reading the manual now it’s a deep recording device.
That is a stunning find, one of the Nauts’ scores of the year, for sure! ![]()
