Similar- always spent time with Live/PUSH2 as well as Bitwig but it is getting harder and harder to go back to Live after V5…that said, who knows what Live 12 will bring…I wont be selling my licence but as you say, the bar is being set very high!
For me I still need a more traditional DAW as well (I am Studio One) for a lot of live audio work but Bitwig is just so inspiring and fun for everything else.
Yeah i also have a Push 2 but i use it in Bitwig as my main controler anyway, so… And it’s even better implemented in some areas with the driven by Moss script. The sweet visuals of the simpler in Ableton are the only thing i would miss i guess, but i can live without them.
For now, the only thing that would make me go back to Live is a Push 3, and I’m not even sure.
I´m still using both Ableton and Bitwig, mostly because I still don´t know how to do some things in Bitwig that are very straightforward in Ableton.
For example, when I recorded some sounds from the DFAM I wanted to select some loops and one-shoots from the original clip, but I couldn´t find a proper way to set the 1:1:1 point, Bitwig didn´t recognize well the transients or zero-crossing points, and didn´t allow me to send them to a Drum Machine…
KVR is the place for cheap software that is legit- get one with a long ‘upgrade period’ and you may get the next couple of updates free as well Also Knobcloud has a few, for example: KnobCloud
You can laos pay less for an ‘old’ version and then update top the latest- there is a sale on upgrades right now (try JJR shop…) and you even get a free plugin…
Well, f*** me… But from what I’ve seen from the Push 3, still don’t want to go back to Ableton. Let’s wait and see what Moss will do with his Drivenbymoss script.
…i can only hope, they’re clever enough, not to get involved in any hw business and risk their small and super smart team…
pretty much no controler protocol that can’t be found and will be recognized by bitwig already anyways…
and even push3 will also do perfectly fine within the next few month to come…
only a few little optimization points left to do and this piece of code is the ultimate modular daw for pretty much everybody…until 5.5 we’ll see some more additional audio features/workflow finetuning and then it’s time for it’s final product destination…
the perfect content creator workstation…earwork meets eyework…for studio as for stage…
the start of inventing and implementing all sorts of video/edit/ fx/vector graphics and visual realtime gimmicks…i’d like to call it the eyegrid…but let’s see…
Hardware controllers are bitwigs one weak spot (I would also love midi comping and retroactive recording). But I just can’t bring myself to switch daws, especially with the upcoming mseg update… driven by moss is ok, but never perfectly integrated like a push is with ableton.
…i can see why some are not that happy about the latest update progress…
but have a second look…this time, progress is all in the details…
the latest mseg options all over the place means nothing at first sight…but once u know what it really means within bitwigs mainframe, it’s just mindblowing…
it was the last border crossing to everything can REALLY trigger/modulate everything AND even can become an OSC of it’s own again…
capturing/comping midi is just a fling away…
and when it comes to audio editing/comping it could’nt get any better already…
and since all perception is subjective, i absolutely can’t agree to any complaints about external controller integration…never experienced such a smooth way to connect all sorts of external gear flawlessly like with bitwig, with any other mainframe host…
if someone really worked with bitwig and a push2 for example, sorry, but that’s serious workflow business right there…
so, i don’t worry about a great push3 integration sooner than later at all…
Didn’t find this in an upthread search and I feel like I looked for it specifically a month or two ago and didn’t see it on their site, so think it’s new …
BW devs have been so zeroed in on the modular components of the app, they are leaving glaring gaps in other areas like step/arp sequencing, live play tools, grooves, ergo stacked modulation lanes, improved metering, etc… Having a “rigid” UI is good for consistency; however entering in notes /modulation need modern approaches.
If by this time next year it’s same ole, same ole, the license will be frozen, and BW will be relegated to noodling DAW only.
