The BITWIG Thread

That why I am not even trying it until at least a few updates after the release!

Bugs are inevitable at first so it’s a wise choice. I’m aiming for the winter discount.

I know but it’s so fun !

Its nice to have a quick ‘peep’ but from past experience it can be a long road to stable release, and I suspect this one will be longer than normal as there is a lot going on!. Happy to wait this time as I don’t have a current plan, I’ll get one when this is out and stable (even tough I am mainly a Live user!) as its a worthwhile update and the modular automation clips will be interesting with my modular!

Interestingly, Automation was one area where Live was much better than Bigwig, these 2 DAWS swap and change all the time, it used to be Bitwig had a better browser, now I think Lives is much better! I will always have Live (big MAX fan and PUSH 3) but it is really hard to say which is better now, Bitwig 6 or Live 12.2 - in my (warped) mind they are sufficiently different to have both!

…this versions claim could not nail IT any better…

…THIS IS INDEED…on another level…

but as always…i gonna skip all beta testing and wait 'til all runs smooth and snappy for real…

so limiter+ comes with 6.2/3…and next year around this time, the bw pandora box will finally open up to full blown sky is the limit, limitless pixels…open ur eyegrid, create for EAR and EYE at once, in one same place and mainframe, made in berlin…

Yep, good times. Imagine launching cv modulation with clips…The BITWIG Thread - #2952 by Hosanna

The automation editing looks good , I’ve often wondered why ableton was still so basic when they could easily be inspired by 3d programs / game engine methods of doing it … softimage was pretty good 20 yrs ago , 3dsmax / maya / unreal are quite advanced … looks like bitwig have done a good job .

So I was incorrect here. In the new Key Filter+ device, there is a toggle to follow the global key signature. Will need to test, but on paper that overlaps another use case for OXI One (harmonizer).

Yeah I have swapped back and forth over the years and just took the hit and kept both. Bitwig can be had so cheap over at KVR forums etc anyhow

Wow wow wow there are clip aliases in Bitwig 6. That’s my most beloved feature from FL Studio. Never implemented in Live (and, dare I say, frowned upon…). That’s huge news!

Yeh, no point selling the licence, the question is just about updating or not- this none looks good enough to update for but I will wait until after the launch and maybe get 6.1 and 6.2 for free! There si no doubt upgrade plans kill second hand licence value (same with Studio One now), maybe that’s the idea!

I haven’t had an active update license for a couple of years, but this is going to bring me back.

Right! At first I had no idea what this was, but watching the video right I was like “oh, this is patterns from FL”

Man, dragging an automation clip to a segment modulator is so cool !

Damn, and the “convert the Polymer synth to Poly Grid” is nice.

And automation clips! Huge inspiration from FL for this version!

ive made automation clips in ableton… its a bit annoying but has been possible for years… especially for 303 filter sweeps that are out of sync with main midi notes, with a few clips of different automation compared to the one bassline clip…

but the overall display and editing of the automation looks good in the new bitwig.

That was already there, but it’s always nice to find something new that you hadn’t noticed!

Seems like they’ve delivered plenty in terms of quality of life features. I think the layered editing stuff looks great and the new automation features have lots of potential. That “hold” automation point thing is simple but very useful.

All those scale-locking features are great as well, all those MIDI generation/mangling devices just got a lot more useful for experimenting with ideas and doing generative stuff.

Now the usual dilemma - use my previously-purchased serial number now or wait until it’s more stable. I’m not sure I’ve got the discipline to wait!
