The best start up advice

Hi to all Elektronauts

For 3 years I have waited, watched far too many YouTube posts and skipping the odd luxuries and saving for just one box! Fast forward to today I am now a proud owner of the Digitakt, tone
and Synth. I found 2 boxes at the Brighton car boot sale, it was destined to be!

The seller didn’t know what they were and priced them at £200 each I got all the boxes and asked to see if there was a better offer for cash money. £550 the lot and I own a Elektron trinity.

Enough of my smugness and would like to know what digi would you look for to start the learning curve. In my opinion it’s either get to grips with the sound design, and progress slowly with all 3. Or focus on one for the time being to make life easier. I am a fan of sampling, straight out and modify, chop and change beats, bass, and with midi synths creating layers for all elements, you know the drill

you can’t go wrong starting with any of them. if you learn the logic of one you’ll more or less know how to operate all of them. my only advice would be to avoid the temptation of working with 2 or 3 at the same time for as long as you can. you’ll end up fussing around with settings and different ways for them to work together and it’ll slow the learning process. if i had to choose one, i think the digitakt is the most fun and immediate.

There are a few other legitimate reasons which I can imagine:

former partner was a deadbeat.
former tenant was a deadbeat.
former employment as a loan shark.
fell off the back of a truck.

Learn digitakt, less that can go wrong and more immediate results. Also as was mentioned, successfully learning one is a window into the next.

Yeah if you like samples, start with the DT. Once you get a handle on the workflow, the other two can fall into place very comfortably.

Pick one, and put the other two away for a few months. You’ll just end up frustrating yourself, or getting distracted by options, otherwise.

Probably start with the DT. Learn that inside out before even thinking about the others.
