The Behringer Gear-in-progress Thread

Maybe a name change to the CE-1 clone they teased a couple years back?

Or a new take on this?

Expanded version of the Solina is the only other guess I could think of - but that doesn’t make much sense.

Was that a thing? I know of their Stereo Chorus and it is quite good, it’s on my pedal board, but I really do not like that they use plastic for their pedals.

Good when it’s something unanticipated from Behringer. They said that will be happening more, so let’s hope 2025 shows the start of that.

The new factory sounds good, we’ll see if that means 20x the products, or just 20x the volume.

Snippet

They also talk about lowering prices with this. ( ?? ) We’ll see.

I wonder how the financial crisis in China ( plus the oldest president’s tariffs ) may affect all this.

The comments on FB seem to get arranged in order by Behringer and the top comment about the Chorus Symphony now is about the VCS3. Don’t know if those are real tea leaves though.

It’s an interesting box size/shape… looks too big for the VCS3 (unless they’ve re thought the form factor) and it’s also nothing like the sizes of box their flip top synths come in. Maybe each box holds 4 of the euro rack format boxes? Either that or even more pedal boxes?

I’d be surprised if that was the name for the VCS3 given it’s neither choral or symphonic… both terms I associate with string machines. Time will tell I guess

You probably don’t label a shipment handling box ( for the trans-ocean journey ) like that. It’s most likely the box for the customer. They’ve moved to environmental packaging, so nothing fancy ( lots of color ) on the outside of the boxes anymore.

More tea leaves, though.

BTW on the factory. You don’t need a clean room to make Protons. They’re going to be doing something different and more high level with that. I expect all their ICs come through Cool Audio, so it must be something else.

Cleanroom facility is interesting. As someone who’s worked in a low-level cleanroom for precision measurement equipment, it’s hard to speculate exactly what they need it for, as they are used pretty widely in manufacturing for different purposes. But the mention of inspection equipment makes me think they are overhauling some aspect of quality control, or they needed better precision than their current quality methods for new product lines. I suppose it could improve their manufacturing volume, but I think any move towards higher quality / inspection capabilities is a good thing, even if it doesn’t result in a ton more products on shelves.

The optical inspection and AI robotics, mostly says to me volume. Thus reduced cost, while maintaining quality.

Thinking about the clean room, that might mean some sort of specialized componentry not available elsewhere. They’ve moved in general to a more modular design, so specialized components could be used across a wide set of product lines, and justify the upfront costs. First thing i think of within a synthesizer / musical equipment realm would be in UI design. I might consider moving to something beyond using a million button switches and the membrane panel switches. Something durable, but still an interface that everybody would like.

Other possibilities exist though.

That was my first thought (customer box) which makes the size and shape even more interesting

Another comment from me on that.

I expect they are using the Solina technology in other future products. Recall how early this somewhat specialized technology was developed, and how carefully they hewed to original technology on that. They also have whatever string synth tech they put into the VC340.

BUT an ARP Quadra is already GIP, and that used the Solina technology, so that may help explain their priority with their Solina.

Why not use it elsewhere ?

“A choral symphony is a musical composition that combines an orchestra, choir, and sometimes solo vocalists in a symphonic structure”.

So perhaps a VC340 desktop as it has vocals and strings both in ensemble and solo.

Behringer does label boxes containing multiple units with the product name. For example here is the factory image for the RD-9, back when the individual units were boxed in glossy color packaging:

I think this is likely a renamed version of their Boss Chorus Ensemble clone they showed a few years ago: image

You’re probably right.

There were a few other string synths of that period that had ‘voice’ or ‘choir’ sections… Logan Vocal Synth and Vocalist, Godwin SC849, Farfisa Polychrome etc… I’d love to see a version of one of those!

My fav was the Godwin of those you mentioned.

I’ve got the SC749 and have had it for years…the best stringer imo.

Any news on this one? ENIGMA now!

B tagged it “synthesizer” on their facebook post, so maybe it’s a string synth?
