…no ono bashing here…and sure, paul was the rehearsal motivator…against the overall vibe of four people in the 1st global fame game band project, that was larger than life for real…
which is always eating u alive at some point…
yokos avantgarde mindset in addition to aaaaaaaaalll this, no matter how paul better talks peace strategy, nothing to see here, was no bad intension, but just the tipping point…
Has anybody listened to the new stereo mixes of the red and blue compilation albums already?
No but thanks for the heads up as had completely missed these. Got the blue album on now…
Was very impressed with the results of Now and Then too. By no means The Beatles finest tune but it’s a lovely encore/finale for them and, to me at least, a super impressive use of AI in music.
I haven’t, but I think there’s only a few tracks that are 2023 mixes.
I’m still surprised listening to the demo included on the revolver updated album that it would appear that yellow submarine started as a melancholy sounding John song when it’s been considered and 100% McCartney track until Giles Martin unearthed Lennons demo
Just listening to the red one and comparing to the 2009 remaster. While everything is mixed “better” from a modern perspective, i think a lot of the music gets lost by putting vox&drums dead center all the time! Michelle and Paperback Writer (specially the intro) lost a lot of their character.
I think i need some more time to decide if i like the mix or not- a lot is just “unfamiliar” but not necesseraly bad.
quite a few. and the rest are the giles martin remixes of recent years
me too. It’s a much nicer stereo experience for listening with headphones I guess. I like the punchiness of the drums. But I also wondering about some weird artifacts and distortions I believe to hear, which I‘m not sure were present on old mixes.
She loves you vocals sound particularly distorted. On can’t buy me love the cymbals seem to have some kind of ducking effect. They seem to change in volume quite a lot.
Etc…
a bit hit and miss it seems
I liked the giles martin remix of sgt pepper and revolver and hoped to get a new rubber soul mix as well, since the stereo version not really listenable with headphones.
I know everyone says the mono versions are the only true versions, but I don’t have a proper sound system for them.
Does anyone listen to mono records on headphones?
