Looks cool, but limited production and the nature and extent of available applications are (for now) a barrier at that price! Though hooking up a sixty four and an arc two as inputs would be a $2400 thing of beauty.

I find this interesting too, but I still have a concern about the item especially when it is open source coding in C.
- Who should code this interface updates? Because the community is lacking of people who has the knowledge of coding and the bigger synth companies is always posting request for coder jobs for their own development? The problem is a bit similar with other projects seen until now example chameleon soundart and raspberry pi.
- I do not understand why they did not make a normal “midi interface” for this unit.
They say that:
USB MIDI is supported. for old MIDI gear, single-cable usb-to-midi converters are cheaply available these days.

Yes, I read that too, what about sync? Will we experience a bad midi latency by using USB-to-midi converter?
As an acoustic instrument player, what caught my attention was Ezra Buchla’s statement:
what i’m working on is: amplitude envelope, fundamental frequency, spectral centroid, and spectral flatness, out to CV with options for scaling/offsets. the decoupling of these last three i have always found sort of magically useful for controlling synth parameters from acoustic instruments.
So this Aleph may not be an immediate buy for me, but color me intrigued… acoustic instrument to CV conversion…
Anyone end up ordering one of these? Supposedly they ship this month.

I did, in the next two weeks the first group will start receiving their Alephs.

Did you receive your aleph yet? if so, does it blow your skirt up?
Here’s the Aleph demo posted by glia in the MW forum:

hmm. sounds like a mediocre puredata patch, not like a 1200$ special designer DSP computer… sorry
edit: ah it’s controlling MI modules… hm. lol
that is incredibly unimpressive to me… but maybe im just not enough of an art nerd to understand how awesome it actually is

No Sucks I am the 1st in the second batch… there was a lot of failures on the build path. Have an A4 waiting to mate with it.
Since we’re still short of any Aleph demos, a couple more by our friend Glia:
Aleph used only as a delay for Shbobo and Repeater Horndog noisemakers:

I guess this is all Aleph:
