Kind of messy jam.
maybe you need to talk sweeter to it? never hurts ![]()
there really is a lot to explore on this machine.
My most recent muse has been finding ways to use the PERF ~~ I got an expression pedal setup to control a set of performance macros hands free
Here’s a little sample of me playing keys while adjusting the beat. I change scences once or twice but mostly I’m just riding the pedal ![]()
(nothing special about the AR sound but I felt this was the best place to post)
These are some baby makin Rytm grooves.
Also
Don’t discount the simple stuff. I bet a lot of people wanted to hear this exact kind of understated / supportive roll for the Rytm.
Especially behind more “traditional” instrumentation.
Keep em coming.
huge part of the value of the Rytm imo.

come to think of it actually any Elektron box. they usually pair really nicely in a lot of those contexts.
I’ve used them myself this way before and I’d say the Rytm is especially adept at this across the Elektron line thanks to the pads.
Even something as simple as mute mode is powerful and easier to operate at a glance than the other boxes thanks to the lights.
Coupled with scenes and perfs, it’s really great at one handed operation while you play something else.
Made from the kits form the presets. For me it’s really a great way to explore them and understand the way the performance macros was set up. Love using the Rytm ![]()
I’ve been refamiliarising myself with the Digiton, and with 16 patterns banks filled, have been programming the Rytm so I can get a live show together for the end of October.
I’ve not added macros or perf commands yet, just getting all the rhythms in place first and getting used to a new way of working/performing. I’m pretty sure all the tones here have been synthesised by myself, rather than using samples.
Took out the Rytm today after playing with DT2 for weeks. Oh man!! the reverb, delay and compressor on the Rytm are wild. I almost forgot. They interact, they are juicy they have grit, they blend. Not saying the DT2 does not sound good. It does imo. But clean, tidy. No sonic surprises. The reverb is soft, mild, audible but not present, not surprising. The compressor does it job, it compresses. But not wild like the Rytm. Me thinking I had to sell the Rytm when I got DT2. Nah…
I did the same thing like you. The Rytm is really special and I get why so many say it’s the best drum machine ever ![]()
Just a short jam here but love these sounds
hey
can you say more about this?
Expression mode or CV?
Are you using single cycle waveforms or the built-in oscillators / noise?
TRS or TS cables?
I’m experimenting with it now but I’m not getting a consistent signal to work with
thanks ![]()
expression mode, I do it with TS but maybe TRS will work too, try this sample, pitch it up a bit and play with the level, remove it from the main outs so you wouldn’t hear it
do not expect consistent results ![]()
Thank you! I was just reading your posts the other day but couldn’t find them again
My band got a drummer (yay!) so I’m exploring repurposing the RYTM as a synth bass. I got pretty lost in it today, stacking three different tracks controlled on one channel:
SY DUAL for the base of the bass
SY RAW for extra oscillators, noise, filter movement
SY CHIP to FX for a pad only heard when sustaining notes
Used the tip above to add some extra modulation across the tracks. Explorations like this are making me interested in an A4/Keys
Paired with my SV1 on Rhodes
One of my favorite things to do is have all my pads be set to just use NOISE machines in the SRC.
Everything in this track (besides the one obvious sample) is a NOISE machine with filter resonance stuff going on. The filter resonance along with envs and lfos opens a whole world of percussive shenanigans. I heard a youtuber who really should have known better say that the only use for the IMPULSE machine was for click tracks for clock sync. Good grief.

also one of my fave things to do with the RYTM
Just released this on Monday:
Heavy use of the SY engines especially near the end of the track. Enjoy!
Totally awesome!
lol - I stopped following ‘youtubber’…there are too many around that knows very little and talk talk talk…
insane loss of time
