Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

sounds quite sad

Hopefully minor bugs like this will be fixed in 2.0.1. I’ve already reported it, just in case.

If you want an error fixed, best chance is to write support and ask (ideally with reproduction steps). Otherwise, there is no guarantee that the error report will reach those who are responsible for fixing it.

So at the moment, if I want to synchronize the Digitone and ep-133, the only way is to use an external MIDI programmable hub, and map the incoming midi notes from the master ep133 to the program changes for the slave Digitone… complicated, but possible

I just scooped a brand new one, excited about the update!

However, my SAMPLE and FX buttons are very soft in the sense that there is no tactile feedback, make no noise when pressed, and need extra pressure to register. The other buttons that are that same size all make a nice loud click when pressed. Does anyone else have a unit with a button like this? Feels a little disappointing compared with the other super tactile buttons.

Return it … All of mine are clicking.

Good call, I’ll swing back by GC, I think they have 3 more so I’ll swap it out.

EDIT: Swapped it out for another one, all good with this one, stoked to use it!!

Has anyone re-stickered their 1330 to better align with the 133? I sold my o.g. KO2, but wife bought me a Medieval for a random birthday present. So I can’t sell it (at least not for a while), and I do enjoy tinkering with it, but the damn latin buttons just adds an extra layer of nuisance lol. Hopefully we get the same firmware update at some stage too!

Damn this thing is seriously inspiring, really easy to bang out a cool beat and then spend an hour playing basslines and using the punch-in FX. The delay is really fun too.

This device is a stone cold modern classic. Thank you TE.

Man, I always wanted the EP-133 especially for the punch in effects and polyphony, and after this update I am so close to proceed to checkout!
BUT - there’s one thing that holds me back, and maybe some users can explain it.
Is step-sequencing possible on this thing? Specifically, TR-rec style step sequencing? It looks like steps are displayed only by numeric values: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so on. The LEDs above the 16 pads do not seem to display a running sequence. Or am I missing something?

No tr-rec. Just the numerical display. Bar.Beat.Step

Set the size of the step in the quantize menu. Step with the + & - buttons.

The pads light up and trigger recorded notes as you step through the sequence.

I think it’s easy to understand if you’ve used a tracker, but you don’t have to press the play button, you can continuously check the input sound by continuously entering the plus or minus buttons. I have the impression that it’s very easy to use.

Coming from the po-33 I was very disappointed when I heard that the ep-133 wasn’t gonna have TR-rec mode. Now I don’t even miss it at all. Turns out that I vastly prefer this version of sequencing. So it could be worth a try

Yeah I like that the step sequencing is different to the other boxes I own. Keeps it interesting.

Just arrived. Its insane, built like a tank…Love the size - reminds me of the 2000XL, slightly smaller than the standard SP

Went for the prototype version…He might be changing the colourway on the proper release.

Thank You! Thats a bummer… I started with an original MC-303, then had the Electribe 2, TR-8s, Novation Circuit, and from some time now I’m in the Elektron ecosystem. All of these machines have Tr-rec one way or another, so I’m used to this principle of sequencing. I dont think this number method would work form me. Im not a keyboard player nor a fingerdrummer, so live modes frustrate me pretty quickly  Biut the rest is so tempting, this thing really does a lot!!! Talk me out of it or - talk me into it
