dude i feel your pain! the exact same thing happened to me the other night. posted about it above. I was in shock and have never had that happen before with any of gear i have own over the years. especially like you said it, it wasnt like i was doing anything to maybe push it over the edge. I had plenty of memory and nothing strange had been happening. totally has me worried.
also tonight is the first time ive run into some really bad voice stealing wonkiness. Its a shame cuz when its working its a lot of fun.

i had some cool shit on it but nothing that kills me to lose. i honestly really like this thing and the seemingly forced factory reset is the first bad thing i’ve had. but is there anything worse? i’d rather have a hardware issue honestly. losing everything is brutal. haha nobody is spared i guess. i thought i was in the clear since i didn’t have hardware issues.

edit: just read your post from 4 hours ago lol. amazing. exactly my feelings.

Anyone tried the Auto-Chop feature? I thought it was not there… but could not actually still figure…

Intermission status report:

  • EP-133 KOII still working, no problems so far

  • Battery life is phenomenal

  • It’s sound is very good

  • The screen is quite nice, gives me just enough info to navigate the device but still forces me to work vy ear

  • Resampling on this is a must…not sure if TE will add it, but it’s definitely missing.

  • Sampling while playback…this would be great but is not a dealbreaker to me if it never comes to the KO2…still would be nice though…

Also an option for setting the recording Bar would be very good ( like on the Circuit Rhythm )

anyone?

Been looking for this as well but haven’t found it. Since you can solo a sound it would make sense to be able to mute it.

I’ve now verified that that was exactly the problem. I now see the feature documented on the laminated cheat sheet, but I still don’t find it in the online guide. Online guides without downloadable formats are bad enough, but not providing a search function makes no sense.

That’s what’s so pernicious about getting a bad rep for hardware failure: a lot of people’s time gets wasted because it becomes even easier for users to blame the device and request RMA’s before they’ve done due diligence. My due diligence was going through that guide, plus I did wait about 12 hours after posting the question here. Now I have to un-request the RMA. Imagine how it will look if I have to re-request a few days later if something breaks.

If it hadn’t been the weekend, the thing might have shipped by now, wasting several parties’ time and money.

Are those components rusting? Should they look that manky?

To get production costs & keep the retail price as low as possible did TE buy one motherlode of cheap components and now have a few years worth of crappy faders?
(…which I’m pretty sure they’ll keep using).

I’m sure some will be wanting to part with their cash (again) to buy a x3 expensive Field version…y’know, one that works. Maybe this is what this is; a gateway device to get folk hooked on the experience before TE announces that a field version is available with 100 new features including a brand new font colour.

That’s one ace add-on!

I’ve been trying to flog mine as it remains un-used. I’d love it if there was a DMX add-on.

Reading this thread is somewhat of a rollercoaster when you have a defective unit. Every time someone posts a fix/debug/workflow about the fader, it almost make me wish that my fader is not dead.
Alas, for now, it definitely is!

Bit nice-ish to see that, although the manual seems a bit of a mess, there are fixes for almost everything.

Yeah. And I figure the practical thing to do is keep the RMA open for the full return period so that if something later warrants a return, it’ll be ready to go. If the RMA never arrives, I expect the seller doesn’t even notice much less care, and I’m spared looking like a doofus. win-win.

hey, this unit would be great for us to have a look at, pls drop a mail to our support and we’ll ensure to get you sorted.

after this happened, have you tried sampling to it, do they bite and persist after a power-cycle?

hey jim, no we only buy brand new parts.

all units are of course fully function-tested, both by a human and later also a robot moving the fader, turning knobs to ensure a raw material issue wouldn’t slip into a product unnoticed

the issue why some units unfortunately arrived with the faders broken was a combination of packaging and transport. resolved going forward.
