Teenage Engineering Drum Machine

http://www.matrixsynth.com/2014/07/teenage-engineering-unveils-new-po-12.html

this reportedly $50 toy sounds a tad better than the akai retardo-wolf.
at the moment it doesn’t sport any kind of enclosure, TE already got away with sorthing like that with the oplab so it’s not necessarily subject to change

Digi right? or samples?

“The sounds will be synthesized with custom synth engines for every drum sound optimised for use with two knobs.” says Jesper. “The optimisation for two knobs is to make the parameter lock feature as creative and interesting as possible.”

All these itty bitty, diy, hackable synths and drum machines make me want to scratch my face off. That said, i do like the sound of this little drum machine.

I really like the sound of this Op-12. Sounds a lot better than the Akai Wolf. To my ears anyway.

Wow great! I ll take three!

Sounds great to me too.

I’d probably use it for Octafood more than anything, but still, it’d be awesome for that role. Parameter locking and 16 effects too on top of all that - ridiculous bargain.

i believe they said it will have a screen. so some sort of visual interface. yes.

Needs green multi-segment LED display

Cenk spotted at 3.06 - hope he was not throwing a sick day…

Unbelievable how good that little cheap thing sounds!

Sounds pretty darn good. Definitely better than The Rhythm Wolf (what the hell went wrong there?).

As someone who grew up dreaming of being able to afford ANY type of electronic musical instrument, things like this still seam amazing to me. I mean good grief, a pocket sized drum machine that has effects and p-locks …and for so little money! What an age we live in (despite the world being on fire politically)!

It’ll be great for in-flight entertainment as well.

I bet they sell a lot of them.

the teenage engineering limits don’t feel like limits. or they don’t make me frustrated.

Jesus that sounds incredible for $50. So what’s the deal with this? It appears to have a sequencer? Must know more

This honestly looks incredible. I can imagine buying this and even building a custom case for it, maybe even getting the arrangement to be more traditional (16 steps horizontally).

Yes, with 16 steps and parameter locks too

friend of mine is already thinking about a 3d-printed enclosure for this gizmo in case the final version also turns out to be lacking an enclosure.

just sayin.

Wonder what the input/output on the left hand side is for? Also wonder if there will be any sort of sync?

word on the street is the unit itself won’t have sync capabilities, but the chip supposedly has the necessary instructions, so you’ll need to sort this with your friendly neighborhood hacker/modder.
