Just made a short live set with my A4 and AR. I’d like to know what you think of it, feedback is more than welcome

I must say, I understand it’s not ‘professional quality’, but is it that bad or that boring none says anything?

For me it will help to get some feedback… so any idea, even if it is very negative… please…

I had a very quick listen but the volume was very low (on my laptop).
It sounded nice but it is difficult to give a proper feedback due to the low volume.

ah… thank you… i had the same problem when I listened it yesterday on my walkman… on my sound system I didn’t hear it because I just turn up the volume

You’ve got good variation between tracks, not too samey or dull.

It sounds clear. You’ve chosen your sounds well and not cluttered it up. If you were just using the 2 elektron machines to mix then well done because it’s well mixed I would say.

I feel sometimes there is a little bit too little going on in some of the tracks. Not in terms of melody or hooks but at times there’s just a a kick, hat and synth. Maybe some haunting pads over the top to create a bit more atmosphere. Personal taste though for me perhaps.

That last track at the end sounds a bit disappointing for an ending track, not the track itself but just as it fades out it’s not very interesting or does not give me any indication that something is coming to an end… maybe you could add loads of delay and reverb to form kind of climax (perhaps climax is not the word) there, maybe use your chaos pad for some of that? I’m not very familiar with the built in fx of the AR or A4.

All in all well done. I’d love to hear what you’ve done in another 6 months:)

I’ll echo martinukai’s comments and also add that I would appreciate further variation in the percussion.
Some live trigs, live movement (left, right) of existing trigs, and live p-lock variations work well for such details.

Sonically, it’s great.

Sonically it is great, you say AdamJay. Does that mean the ‘sound’ is clear, like Martinukai said?

I am always a little unsure about my sound, that can be a reason for me to use a computer with overbridge… but I love it so much NOT to have a computer next to me… If the sound is good enough without a computer… I will go for that.

p-lock variations
live trigs (like one shots?)
Variation in percussion.

live moments with existing trigs… once I experimented with that, good to read about it again… I will try that again.

This is what I try to do, and the direction I also think I have to develop. I am really happy this is mentioned, now I am more aware of it.

Yeah, it does not have necessarily have to be pads per se, but something in the background or shimmering on top to keep it interesting. Will totally transform a track.
I give this Cassegrain track as an example as it kind of does not rely on swingyness/groove or incorporate any rhythmic percussion elements… sort of like your style.

This track it would be just another dull slow plodding techno tune without the bizarre untuned drone in the background and jarring chirps and sound effects. All those are essential to bolster the very very basic drums and repetitive synth bass hook and it succeeds in becoming an peculiarly intriguing track as a result, despite having a very basic structure.
