After reading the documentation, i’m trying to get my head round the rompler tracks, which are where you use your samples and can be either one shot, slice or drumkit.
From what i’m reading though is that you can only select one kit of which all rompler tracks share the same pool of samples from the selected kit per project, do you have to curate a kit before being able to select it?
I was hoping drumkits would work similar to Move, Maschine, MC707, where you can sequence multiple drum samples per drum track and can select samples from your sample folder and then save your kits? @johannes-dada are you able to clarify this?
If so, hopefully someone is able to create an Ableton style drum rack machine.
hey. sorry I am a bit slow these days with answering. Lot’s of work with production preperation…
The device serves a WebUI where you can upload Samples to the Device. The samples you upload to the 32GB Storage in the device you can use in kits of currently up to 28MB > about 6 Minutes.
You can switch the kit inside of a project in like 2seconds. But you can only have one kit active in a project at a time.
Maybe we are able to preview from internal storage later on and also able to build the kit on the fly or even use samples from the internal storage.
Thanks for the quick reply man.
So of the 28mb kit size, how many different samples can be used per kit? is it a set number, or is it as many samples to the total 28mb? Cos’ that would still be a good number of samples to use per project if the number of samples per kit was only restricted by the 28mb kit size.
I think we should start some kind of user voice tool.
To get all your wishes on a list so we can make priorities aligned.
This is a new platform with a small team but we want to deliver the best product possible.
And we love to get all your ideas into the first release if possible (but is probably not realistic) or at least have an idea when we could tackle them.
It could maybe benefit the TBD-16 if it had a 64mb sample pool per project, similar to the Digitakt OG, with 128 or more sample slots to choose from, that way the user would have a larger pool of drum samples to select from in a kit.
A feature wishlist would be cool for users to be able to share their ideas.
Can’t wait to get my pre-order locked in and start playing around with it!
I am also a fan of the Polyend Play’s use of adding sample packs too the sample pool too, especially while turning the sample selection knob and it records random samples from the sample pool folders to active steps on selected tracks, very cool.
Maybe there will be a version with more PSRAM some day.
But the ESP32-P4NRW32X we will use was just announced in Rev. 3.X officially today. We have been working with Espressif already for some time.
Streaming from SD-Card is a viable option. But maybe not for the first release.
We have made sure that we can reach the highest possible speeds with the SD-Card interface implementation.
Our default “Pool” currently has 256 Samples max.
