Yes, nanoboxes and the bluebox are, too my ears, just a slight notch above the blackbox. Again, might be a subjective experience only. But they sure sound good.
It has no song mode or stuff like that, but the loop and clip function is very powerful, as long as youāre okay with jamming it out live. But it does clock to BPM, and it also has a fairly efficient slice function.
It really is the blackbox, but in nano format, and with none of the sequencing, song mode or granular stuff going. But otherwise, pretty close to the bbox.
Yeah, I really think when one goes for the iPad / iPhone argument, thatās before youāve heard these things live. Whatever comes out of an iPad just sounds dull compared to the huge output of these boxes. Thatās the kind of stuff you just want pure into your recordings, gives the master engineer less to do, makes the mix just work because it already sounds so good.
@muzka The blackbox sequencer and song mode are both extremely powerful. I donāt think most users get just the sheer flexibility of 1010ās implementation of sequencing. 16 patterns running in parallell, all with independent amount of triggers, stop and start point with individual quantization and time signature. Thatās like sixteen Elektron patterns running in parallell.
haha cue the Behringer/Moog Crowd because this is starting to smell like a counterfeit, even down to the color combo + fruit juice connection!
Ah nice. That may be just what Iām after. Will have a further look.
Oh in that case, clearly the Tangerine is going after this fabulous product
I expect this is going to sell well; if not the best of the nanoboxes.
An āall my favourite patchesā in a dedicated matchbox. Pity about the 64 mb limit, otherwise itās like a mobile kontakt.
BlackBox is its biggest competitor if you already own one, but less spec for this specific purpose.
This is the type of instruments that does not inspire me and make me wanting to do something else rather than playing music
This seem perfect for storing vocal phrases and firing them off from another sequencer m⦠kind of like what Iāve been looking for for a long time. A no fuzz sampler which focuses on the sample side and not trying to be another grooveboxā¦
Is there a sample limit?
Edit:
8 stereo streams at the same time with a limit of 4gb each!? Holy moly!
@circuitghost does it time stretch? Itās not mentioned on their site
I think its main purpose is the automatic āloopbackā sampling feature where it spits out midi notes 1by1 + Velocity Levels 1by1 and turns it into a sample library.
basically to freeze a studio patch into a sample or to collect every other piece from eBay or somewhere else etc. but it takes a good while to finish. the font of 1010 never got me, they should develop all 4 into some App or into Koala
Yes
clip mode is time stretch mode
Hook this baby up to your OP-1, and you got a no power cord stereo sampling looper beast.
That is really apealingā¦
Can you send audio via OP-1 to Tangerine?
Yep, but only in the old fashioned way - line out to line in. No USB audio. Tho the OP-1 powers the Tangerine, so the rig remains very portable.
They missed the ball not using Tangerine - Glass Animals as the marketing video.
Aah ok, that is unfortunate⦠but that would probably introduce a lot of unwanted noise anyways⦠this looks really cool⦠Iām gonna keep an eye out for this in the Swedish shops!
RAM is practically irrelevant because samples are streamed in the 1010 universe.
Yeah, Iāve pushed their boxes pretty hard and never once had an issue with memory. Many of my samples are minute long stereo long ass tail swinging ambient loops and their boxes can handle it just fine.
true, but the blackbox is also pretty good at this too and has a broader feature-set, though less capacity for multisampled patches
except totally practically relevant if you want 8 tracks of multisampled instruments was my understanding, unless I misread the spec?
