Talk me out of an OP-1 :)

It’s beyond what I expected, I want to fuck this thing it’s so good at turning me on! GRRRRRGGGGGG!!!

Something like this happened to me too. I bought one off ebay from a seller with great ratings. It looked great. It worked great, for a few hours. Then it just started randomly turning itself off. It had real trouble booting up especially. Went through all the tips and tricks and diagnostics over the next several days. Still wouldn’t function 100% properly after much testing and tweaking. Thankfully, the seller was very understanding and agreed on a full refund.

I loved the device and OS. A really fun little machine! Can’t beat the portability factor. I think all the time about getting another one. I would never pay full-price for one brand new though. What worries me, and keeps me from buying another, is the battery glitch stories I read about, and have experienced firsthand. I’m afraid I’d buy another used one, get a misbehaving OP-1 again, and the seller wouldn’t take it back this time.

I wish they would do an OP-2 one day and fix some of the issues encountered with the OP-1, but this isn’t likely to happen I don’t guess.

That new drum machine they’re working on looks fun though! And more affordable!

FWIW I have 2 and no battery issues, the battery level meter has always been useless but this is only a software quirk, so don’t be under the impression that all OP1’s have battery issues, I think it is a rare albeit unfortunate issue.

I have also not experienced any OP-1 battery issues.

On the old ohpeewon.com and the new operator-1.com forums, this has not been complained about very much. The pops while looping, yes, but not battery stuff.

In the first week with mine and have fallen deeply in love! So easy to use and be creative. Here is so of my own drums recorded at another session with full mics and chopped up in the OP1.

Sorted out my battery issue and i’ll be buying a 2nd OP-1 next week. This thing has really blown my mind!

I wanted to record something with that lovely “Marx was right” sketch in Sketch sequencer before erasing it. So here’s a jam with that, triggering DSynth. I overdubbed another DSynth track to make it a duet. Had a frustrating day trying to work with CSS, so took out my frustrations with this harsh noise thing.

DSynth and CWO are both fantastic for crazy noize. I’m in love with my OP-1 again…

Heck yes! That Marx drawing made me lol, indeed! Here is something I made yesterday with the OP 1 and 5 midi tracks playing the same info on 4tracks recorded at different speeds. This thing is just beyond anything I could have hoped for, well worth what I paid.

I always see this this post… my answer is:

No I won’t!

That said I have 3, never had problems, they are all different periods original, post original 6 months, and recent.

I don’t use them together but usually have them in different locations. One in my bag where ever I go. love going through security at the airport!

Nice work!

great!

Why thank you!

OP-1 is what brought me back to music. little sketches… no pun intended is what draws you in to the tiny power house.
