MS cant go granular the way DT does because it has the same limitations as the AR regarding parameters resolution. Elektron’s pokemon effect like always.
What does that mean, if I may ask? This ain’t my generation.
I had to think about it for a second too, but “Gotta catch them all!” There is no pokemon that do it all, each have different value/function. And I agree that there seems to be no Elektron gear that does it all. Like a keyboard with pad, that does Octotrak + Analog synth stuff with the ease of use of the DT.
see ponnuki answer which is perfect. and this ain’t my generation either since I’m 42, but still I think that sums it up nicely.
This was warping my head, and the lack of a Perf / Mute mode a la A4. Having to choose between MUTE, SCENES, PERF : the choice was mute. Not convenient to use/latch Perfs. I would have liked a Perf page with knobs…(AR MKI).
I’ve looked into it a bit more, starting to seem like a no brainer for me.
Are the pads on MK1’s really that bad? I can’t think of a work around to play all pads on 12 mpc pads, assuming it’s the same midi implementation as a Digitakt? Although, wait there, i can’t finger a drum a whole kit anyway…
Maybe worse than an MPC1000. Hard feel.
Hmm, scrolling through 12 tracks on a mpc to play a few bits in by hand doesn’t sound appealing. Sounds fiddly, though not that bad, I must be getting soft.
Can anyone point me towards some good sound example videos, watched a lot and only Datalines was interesting.
If you look at the average priced of a MK1 you’re only pay £250 on top of selling your DT, for 4 cv outs, 8 mono outs, all of the analog stuffs, fx track, the reverse thing and four extra voices…
yes a perf page would have been good not sure why the didnt make it like the A4?..
on the mk2 you do have the QPER button and quick perf amount which is an improvement
I bought the AR MKII before I got the Digitakt and even though they both have the words “Drum Computer” written on the interface I bought the Digitakt to use the MIDI tracks to sequence my keyboard synth. Also, I recently have gotten more into sampling and I don’t have to sacrifice drum tracks on the AR to do that now.
I think the thing to do is download the PDF of the manuals and study them carefully so that you know what you’re getting before you make your purchase.
