Hi there - new to this forum - sorry in advance for nubyisms!

I have to perform a factory reset on my RYTM to see if an unresponsive pad is a hardware or software issue.

I have one important Project all backed up through C6 on my Mac and I’m really nervous about loosing it.

When I sysex receive it back into the RYTM, (I have not performed the factory reset yet) I am getting a message saying it has received all of the kits, patterns and settings. However, I have no way of testing if this had actually arrived as the Project I am receiving is already in the RYTM. I believe the default receive position is in the place it was already saved…

Is there an option to save an incoming project in a different slot with a different name?

Many thanks!!

Save your project to new slot, test it is intact (even do a second time if it makes you more comfortable). Then clear the old slot?

Thanks - I managed to save the Project to a new slot and delete it from the previous location

I then sysex dumped the saved Project on my Mac to the RYTM - it said all kits, patterns & settings were received but when I went to the ‘Load Project’ page there was nothing listed in the cleared slot : (

Is there a further page I’m not seeing when the sysex dump is complete?

Ah ha! - I think I get it now - when you receive a project over sysex, it does not send the project name - you must save that yourself manually - that’s where I was confused

Might be a nice feature to add a prompt once a Project has been received after being backed up?

Thanks for the help!

yeah the sysex backup has nothing to do with the project structure on your Rytm. Sysex can only send to whichever project currently is active, and replace the RAM content. So yeah if you want to test your backup:

  • create a new project
  • send the backup to your Rytm
  • check if everything is fine
