Guys does anyone know of any other synths that can mix in an external signal and send to output like the boutiques. I know you can do this with the elektron boxes, mpc etc but just looking at a synth. Some have external inputs but they go though the filter etc and not straight to output to mix with the internal synth engine ?
I believe the Modal Argon 8 allows you to run an external signal either through the internal fx, or bypassing the fx. I don’t own one so I can’t check in person, but check in the manual.
Will do, cheers for that
I believe my Yamaha Reface CS has this feature also.
Pocket Operators!
This is actually a very important consideration for me as well. My favorite synths that have audio inputs to allow the mixing of different audio sources are the Access Virus, Roland System 8. and Roland Integra 7 (which has 2 stereo inputs).
yes the refaces all have this as far as I know
Just read the modal manual and yes straight to output or use internal effects
Cheers for all these guys, didn’t realise how many there are !!!
Korg NTS-1 lets you I believe you might have to skip out on one of the fx if you want it fully dry… its input can’t be to hot and output is relativity low level though. But yeah you don’t even have the option to insert pre filter.
So it can use internal engine and mix in external source at same time ?
yeah you can sequence or play the internal engine and then you have the 3 fx slots and you pick where the audio in gets inserted with in the FX chain at the same time.
Brill, worth a look then
Never really looked at the CS but watched a few demos and it sounds pretty good, was quite surprised at some of the sounds
A large number of the old Emu boxes in the Proteus series and its derivatives could do this.
Also, the DSI Poly Evolver (rack version).
Bass Station 2 allows you to run a mono signal through the filter, overdrive, distortion and osc filter mod.
Yeah this is what I don’t want, I want the input to go straight to output and mix with the internal engine of the synth, main reason is I haven’t got enough inputs on my sound card and need one more input so this would be sort of a way around it without needing a mixer, but thanks anyway
Beat me to it there! Yeah the Orbit and Proteus offer dual stereo inputs from memory
It’s a really handy feature, especially if you’re just jamming with a few items rather than having everything set up. Sometimes you just want a synth and drum machine to sketch out some ideas without having to use the desk, monitors etc.
Exactly that
